"I'm sorry, who are you?" I ask the lady looking at me, way too cheery.
"My name is Felicity Asher, nice to meet you!" She continues all smiley again. She puts out her hand and I shake it cautiously. This lady seems nice and all, but we're complete opposites. I know name meanings off of the top of my head, my name means darkness and bad luck, while hers means happiness and good luck.
"So why are you here...by me?" I ask, trying not to sound rude.
"I'm here, Mallory Thorn, because you look like a lovely person." She replies. I've never been called "lovely" outside of my family...EVER! But now I have no family, and I suppose she's going to try and adopt me.
"So I guess I'm a puppy your going to buy, and then abandon me when I'm not cute anymore, right?" I snap, not being able to take the politeness anymore. Her smile falters and I suddenly feel a stab of guilt. But what she says surprises me:
",You must be going through a lot, aren't you?" I feel my eyes start to water and I bite my lip, I turn away. She silently squeezes my hand and leaves. She may be nice, but I will never have a mother besides the one that gave me life.

That makes me want it
