Hushed Mate

Chapter 1

No one's p.o.v.
Edelyn Rose and her father William are outside shooting wolf dummies for practice.

"That-a-girl! You're doing great Edelyn." Her dad exclaim excitedly.

"Daddy! Why do the wolves hate us?" Edelyn questioned unknowingly.

William sighed. "Sweetheart, the wolves and us have a bad history of hurting each other, okay? But we're not going to lose anymore. That's why we have to practice."

Edelyn was still unsure of whether or not killing them was okay. She was only 7 but she knew what they did. If it was right? She had no clue.

But little did she know, it was the opposite of right.

8 years later
Edelyn p.o.v (15 y/o)

"Alright dad. We're in for a good one this time. We've got the King pack headed this way. They assume that we've already left, but they won't know we're here with guns loaded." Edelyn announced proudly.

"Get in position." Dad whispered dully.

I got in position even though I never followed any one else's orders. I may not have killed yet, but I was the queen of this territory and I don't give a rats ass what others say.

My heart began pounding as I heard the pattering of feet in the distance. To be exact , wolf feet. I could literally hear their sharp claws digging into the dirt. One blow from that claw and I'd be dead.

Too bad I'm way better than they are.
I thought with a smirk.

I heard a sharp howl and look over to see a wolf running at me full speed. Immediately I lifted my gun and shot. I didn't know if I hit it or not, but I ran as fast as I could. I didn't stop running until I came to a clearing surrounded by trees. I couldn't go home after I ran away from a fight. My dad would never forgive me. He was my hero. He did everything for me. I hope none of that changed. I drifted off to sleep with no intention of waking up.

"Edelyn. Its me."

"What ? Who are you?" I looked around frantically but all I saw was blackness.

"Edelyn you have a mission"

" WHO ARE YOU? " I yelled.

"My name is Sage. I am your inner luna. You need my help and tonight you've opened your guard. " Sage sounded desperate.

"Luna? No. Luna only has to do with ware wolves. I'm a hunter. I can't have a luna." Edelyn cried out.

"Edelyn. Go home. I'll explain the rest later."

I jolted awake taking in my horrid dream. Although, it wasn't much of a dream. I didn't see anything I just heard Sage.

Edelyn go home.

That's it. I'm going insane. I must still be asleep. My body jerked itself up and began to walk.
