DISTRICT 2 MALE -

I narrow my eyes trying to see anything to the snow falling from the darkness, but there is nothing. I let out a sigh peering behind me, Connor nods at me and focusing back outside the cave, along with Aspen and Poppie. All of a sudden Seneca Crane’s booms throughout the arena, I stare up into the snow strewn sky listening. As soon as the announcement is over we begin to gather our thing to set out back towards the Cornucopia. I think it’s stupid, we don’t really need anything but I let out a sigh at take the lead.

After awhile Connor leads and I follow just behind him, it was a stupid idea to walk through a storm, but in order to get there on time to ensure no other tributes steal our packs we have to make this trek. The snow is ankle deep and we all struggle to walk, as the sun begins to rise I see the glint of gold from the Cornucopia. Connor calls back to alert the stragglers. Once we reach the clearing I grab Magdalena’s arm and pull her further away from the rest of the group. I consider gagging her and taking her off into the forest to fend for ourselves, but I know she wants to stay in this large alliance, I don’t see the point though nearly all the other tributes are dead! We’ll have to split off eventually. As Emerald appears running in our general direction the second bloodbath begins, I pull Magdalena back frowning at her, I touch my index finger to my lips and run out into the clearing, hoping she’s not following.

I withdraw a chakram from my belt and throw I was aiming for Areo but it’s blade skims across Alézya’s abdomen and she falls to the floor clutching her stomach, I run to her giving her a apologetic look and retrieving my chakram. I spot Areo heading towards the cover of the trees and sprint after him. I dive on top of him clenching my teeth. He claws at my injured arm and I yell in pain as he digs his fingers into the already broken skin. I howl in pain rolling away from him. All of a sudden I feel a sharp pain on my right ear, and to my horror I realise he is biting it! I swing crying out in pain I pull the dagger from my belt and jab it into the side of his ribcage and twist, but he is relentless, still hanging on. I push his body away and I my vision blacken for a second through the pain. I feel like I’m going to be sick and dry retch, I haven’t eaten so nothing comes up. Aero comes at me again his face angered, adrenaline takes over and I launch on top of him once more, pinning him to the floor. I pull a throwing axe from the sheath of by back and slam the blunt end of it onto his forehead, he slumps immediately, I let out a wry sigh and slit his throat.

I clasp my hand to my ear, my hand comes away covered in crimson blood, I decide to rip off the sleeve of Areo’s shirt, and pressing it to my ear. I retrieve my pack at the entrance of the cornucopia and head back to where Magdalena. She looks ruffled and bruised.

“What happened?” I breath, peering over her, she shakes her head at me. “I only managed to grab my bag, do you want me to go and get yours?” I offer, she gives me a look of utter loathing and I smile at her, she certainly is a fighter.

“No!” she spits her eyes narrowing on me. “If you’re that worried about me, you can cover me.” She says matter-of-factly. I follow after her, my throwing axe at the ready. I skirt around the cornucopia to find Janiqua readying herself to attack Magdalena, who is already running off toward our allies, I take hold of her neck and before she knows it, I twist and it snaps, she is dead in a second. Without a look back I head back to our allies.
