Eyes, a Window to the Soul

I gazed at her as she walked across the park. She had a greatness to her that I couldn't fathom, it was some what enchanting. As she pushed a little boy on the swing, I watched her expressions, pure unconditional love glowed in her eyes when she looked at the boy. She is so beautiful, I can't believe I'm watching her how weird am I. I couldn't help myself as I continued to stare, amazed at how one person could have so much love for another. I knew her from the grocery store where she is a cashier. I had to talk to her, I knew that if I didn't I would think about this woman for the rest of my life and regret never saying anything to her other than a quick and formal "Hello" when I buy groceries.

I'm not the most graceful when it comes to talking to women, I never was. Women want muscles, looks, a hard working man but they also want someone who is firm, manly, with a sweet sensitive side to them. I have the traits but will they be over looked because I say the wrong thing in nervousness? I'll just go talk to her, whats the worst that could happen?

"Hello there!" I say over eagerly, grinning like a maniac.

           "Hi." She chuckled.

"I'm Zach." The words fumbling from my mouth as I stuck out my hand to greet her.

"I'm Clarie and this is my son Robert." Clarie said returning a smile.

"Hi Robert. Clarie, I know that this will come off a little weird but here me out ok?" I said trying to find the words I wanted to say. As I paused Robert hopped off of the swing and ran to the slide. I couldn't stop myself, my feelings started to spew out like word vomit. "Never in my life have I seen someone so beautiful and it isn't the way you hold your shoulders with confidence or the way your hair cascades down your back in a perfect flow of curls, but the way you love you son and look at him with such admiration, it makes you beautiful from the inside out." My face is burning from embarrassment as I realize what I had just said.

"Ummm wow... I'm speechless. " Clarie said with a glisten in her eyes but she quickly changed the subject with a look of regret shadowing her face, "Honey! There you are this is Zach, Zach this is Jensen, my boyfriend."

"Hi Zach, how do you know Clarie?" Jensen asked bowing his chest and tucking him hands in his pockets as if he felt threatened.

"I don't... I was just introducing myself but I've got to be on my way now. It was nice meeting you guys." I said. An inevitable feeling a reject hit me and I felt idiotic for not asking if she was single first. Of course a woman of this standard wouldn't be single, why would I assume that?

Walking away in shame with my head down, I embarrass myself more by running into the slide. I quickly glance back to see if they had saw what happened and there they stood smiling. I awkwardly smiled back and walked away quickly. It was time to go back to work and thank God for that. I needed to get my mind off of what just happened. As I walk to my office I fumble through my keys and they fell out of my hands hitting the floor. I quickly picked them up, unlocked my door and closed it, hiding myself from my employees. The last thing I needed at the moment was to hear more things I wouldn't like.

          KNOCK..KNOCK..KNOCK.

Placing my head in my hands and running my fingers through my hair I answered with a quick, "Come in!"

"Sir, your client Aimes called and there is a problem with his case. He needs to get a hold of you quickly before trial." My assistant Susan mumbled handing me the details she jotted down.

I skimmed over the report and as I suspected he was in trouble again. This man couldn't stay out of trouble if his life depended on it. With a sigh I made some calls and talked to the DA to pull some strings but this time wasn't so easy.
