My name is Kayla Strong. I'm seventeen years old, blonde hair, bright blue eyes, 5'7, weigh 145, with pink and red braces. I'm not your typical image for one of the popular girls at high school. Lots of the kids at school reject me, or make fun of me for whatever reason gives them the right to do that. In my opinion nobody should do that to someone, we're all at school for one thing, and one thing only; to learn. Not to see how many friends we can have, how many guys we can sleep with, how many drugs we can do and not get caught. But I guess that's just how every other teenager besides me sees high school.
"I WANT THIS THOUGH!" I heard my twin brothers bickering downstairs, usually I would ignore them; but I heard something shatter.
My stomach dropped, I jumped up and rushed downstairs to see that they broke dad's Darth Vader glass signed by James Earl Jones. (Darth Vaders voice, not the creepy ugly guy inside.) "What'd y'all do?" I said as I looked at black glass everywhere.
Kyle looked at me, "Well, I wanted to wear the new tie that you got for me, but Kody wouldn't let me have it."
"How did the Darth Vader glass break then?"
Kody looked up at me and shrugged, "I think Kyle's big butt hit it." He snickered at Kyle. Kyle's face grew angry, and he shoved Kody onto the ground, and started to punch him. I quickly made my over to them without stepping on any glass, and removed Kyle from Kody's body. "Hey! Stop!" I said as I held my arms out to prevent them from killing each other, "Dad's not here so it's my job to make sure that you guys can stay alive till he gets back. Kapeesh?"
They both nodded.
"Now, who broke the glass?"
Kody looked at his feet, "I did." His mumble let me know that he was sorry, "I didn't mean to though."
"It is, but isn't okay. You are gonna have to tell daddy when he gets home."
He shrugged, "Okay. Can Kyle tell him to?"
"Yes, because it technically is both of yalls fault. Now, go to your room and play video games. If you guys need anything, just come get me. I'll be in my room writing." I watched as they both scattered up the stairs.
I entered my room, and laid down on my bed. My phone dinged. Oh, another hate message. I didn't even bother to read it, I knew who it was from, and I never got any nice messages from them, so I ignored it.
As the time past, I continued to write on my laptop for my journalism class. There were seven pages. Half way done. My dad finally made it home, so I saved what I had written, grabbed my purse, and ran over to my friend Brianna's house. She was a very animated person, someone I loved being around.
My knuckles rested against her door, she opened it and walked outside with me. "You look gorgeous." She smiled and got in her car.
"Thanks Bri, so do you." I got in the passenger seat ready for the mall.
"So how's the paper coming along?" She asked as she turned left.
I shrugged like I always did, "It's coming along." I nervously laughed. "Like, it would help if I actually knew what it was like to have boyfriend, or have a date to a dance."
She looked at me, "Girl, you are beyond beautiful, I'm surprised that any guy hasn't gotten some."
I laughed way too hard, "Oh my God! I don't want a guy to get some." She laughed, "You know what I meant, you take everything so dirty."
"I get it from the one and only." I smirked at her. She rolled her eyes and laughed.
We made it to the mall. We were going dress shopping for the Valentine's Day dance. I didn't plan on going until Brianna talked me into it.
Stopping at any store that looked classy enough for two hours killed my feet. "Bri, I need a break. I can't walk anymore."
"You need to run more. My legs are like steel." She laughed at her horrible joke. "I'm gonna go in here and see if they have anything nice." She peeked her head inside, "Nope." She helped me up, "Okay, let's go."
I just laughed as we started to head to the front of the mall. We passed this unattended booth. "Rent Me For Valentine's Day." The sign said it Black, white and red letters. Then I looked down and there was a business card. "Who would wanna do this?" Brianna asked as she laughed and looked at the card. "That's too much money." She walked away.
The thought did occur to me that I would need a date for the Valentine's dance. So I took one card, just to be safe. I shoved it in my purse and ran to catch up with Bri.
She dropped me off at my house, and I told her goodbye. I ran upstairs to my room and pulled the card out of my purse. Should I? What would He look like? I would be in deep trouble if he looked hideous. Not that looks matter, but I would definitely never see the light of day at school again. I turned the card over to find a number. My phone sat quietly on my dresser, so I picked it up and called the number.
Instead of it being a person, it was a machine. It kept asking all of these questions, and I would have to press numbers. I didn't want to pay three hundred dollars and him not be dreamy. So I waited till I could leave a message. It finally beeped.
"Hi, my name is Kayla Strong. I saw your card at the mall and I was wondering if I could meet you sometime. Just give me a call back." I left my number, and hung up.
Of course I didn't get a call back. I was so exhausted from earlier so I fell asleep. I really needed him to call me back as soon as possible. But I could wait. I went all through high school without a boyfriend, so I could wait.
