"Be careful." Mr. Wong the Chinese restaurant owner said handing me my receipt. I put the icy Pepsi in my purse and clutched it. Walking on the Atlanta streets at night was dangerous. I said a silent prayer and began to walk. The November breeze grabbed at my chest and legs and I tried to walk faster. "Aye!" I heard a voice yell from behind. Just keep walking I told myself struggling against the wind. "Aye yo!" The voice yelled even louder. "Shallow!" He barked. My name. "Shallow wait!" I began to jog. I reached the alley and saw three boxes. " Emo ? Man Man?" I painted. The response was silent. "Shallow! " the man stood at the mouth of the alley. "Stop running ma...a nigga tryna talk to ya." My heart beckoned. "It's me Marcus." My ex. " I'm changed like you wanted me to be. I got saved...aye ...I ain't even drinking no more. " His lies echoed through the alley. His muscular build hovered over me. " Give me another chance. " I stood like a statue. He moved closer. I backed up. He then charged for me. "Shh. Don't scream girl...unless you screaming for me."
