Lana's POV

Archer and I sat by the little stream, only talking.

He told me about his family and how his little brother had come to this place, and what his life had been like before. He seemed like a pretty nice guy.

"So what about you? Tell me about yourself."

I shrugged and hesitated. Did he need to know everything?

"My parents died in a car crash when I was five."

He seemed shocked. "Oh, I'm so sorry."

I waved my hand. "Don't be. It's completely fine."

He nodded. "Ok so what else?"

"I...didn't shift until I was eighteen."

He shifted his weight. "Are you..."

"A man? No. Just a weird, late shift."

He laughed. "I was just gonna say a late bloomer."

I smiled. "Sure. So, how old are you?"

He smirked. "Nineteen. I'm going to University of Florida this summer."

I rose an eyebrow. "That's a pretty hot place for a wolf."

She shrugged. "Just trying to get as far away from here as possible."

"Don't you have a pack to go back to though? Will they let you leave?"

He hesitated. "Won't this pack not let me leave?"

"No, they will, everyone is free to leave as they wish. Your avoiding the question, do you have a pack or not?"

He sighed. "No. I left after they wanted to kill my brother."

"Oh, I'm sorry."

"Nah, it's okay, I like being alone anyways."

I smiled. "Me too."

"So, how did you find this place?" He asked.

"Long, long story." I laughed.

He smirked. "I have time."

So I sat with him, going through my life, the hard parts and the happy parts, all up to this point right now. He commented sometimes with a grunt or sympathetic frown, but he didn't say much.

After what seemed like an eternity, I was finished with the story, and he started to talk about his life. Apparently, he was the Alpha at one point but when his brother was found out, he was demoted. He grew up under the strict rules of his father, and his mother passed away the year after he was born. And ever since he was nine he was in training to be Alpha, just to be bumped down to the bottom the month after he was initiated.

We both shared a certain bond, we both were unwanted.

I learned Archer was actually a really amazing guy, and an amazing Alpha. I wondered though, how his little brother was discovered. He must've not known that his gift was supposed to be a secret.

Hearing Archer talk about his brother made me miss mine immensely. I never actually thought about him and mason, and if Quinn was hurting him. A sense of guilt suddenly filled me. What if Quinn charged him for being related to me? I had to find him, and make sure he was alright, knowing Quinn he would do something to him. He was strong...but not as strong as the Alpha. I suddenly felt the need to find him and take him here, but he wasn't with Quinn that time we saw them.

Maybe... he escaped with Mason and a few others.

And maybe... I could somehow-...

"So what about you? Do you have any siblings?" He asked shaking me out of my thoughts.

"What? Oh, um, yeah, a brother. He's older. Can you excuse me for a second? I have something to do."

He nodded and I shifted then walked into the forest to be alone. I closed my eyes and opened all my walls.

Come on Nate, I know you can hear me.

Silence.

I sighed and thought harder.

Nathan, it's Lana! Answer me!

I tried to rack my mind for any small sound that would lead me to believe he was there, but nothing.

I turned to leave, but I heard a small whisper.

"Lana?" The familiar voice asked.

My breath hitched. "Nate?"

"Lana! Oh God, Lana! Are you okay? Where are you?" Nate asked.

A smile lit up my features. "I should be asking you the same thing! I'm fine, are you? Did Quinn hurt you?"

"No, no, no. Me, Mason, Colby and her brother, we left. We're not part of the pack anymore, were our own. Where are you? I need to find you!"

"Um... well..." I couldn't tell him of this place, we would have to meet in between. Then a place lit up in my mind. "Remember that gas station that we passed on our way to California where Dad puked?"

Nate laughed. "Yes. You remember that?" I smiled. That was one of the best memories I had of him. It was a hilarious moment in my life. "Are you there?"

I hesitated for a moment. "I will meet you there." Then I cut off the connection before he could ask too many questions.
