Lola hummed in her bath, contently as her maid massaged her head.

Suddenly her maids hands were replaced with larger ones.

"Warm enough?" a soft voice asked.

Lola's eyes snapped open in excitement.

"Collin!"

She turned to face him, a bright smile upon her face.

"I don't believe it!"

She grinned.

"What are you doing here? You can't-"

She was cut off as his lips met hers with urgency.

They kissed passionately before he pulled away.

"I've been thinking of you from the moment you got on that boat," he said, staring into her large brown eyes.

She smiled.

"I borrowed money and left for the next day."

Lola let out a dreamily sigh.

Then she thought of reality suddenly and her mind scowled at her for it.

"I want you to stay... But, we'll be found out," her voice got more serious.

"We need permission."

Catherine DeMedici laughed in astonishment at the pair.

Her delicate hand rose to her heart in mock sympathy.

"What a grand, romantic gesture," she said to the couple before her.

She smiled for a moment.

"And you say your queen, Mary knows of your young man?" she asked even though she already knew the answer.

Lola stuttered.

"I-i... She hasn't met Collin," she leant forward a little. God, she hoped Catherine would help her.

"But she knows his people," she nodded, satisfied at what she had said.

Catherine nodded along with her.

"Oh," she sighed, like she only just understood.

Then she suddenly pointed at Collin.

"Your father is the cousin of Mary's father James?" she asked, sharply.

"My father served him until the day King James died," he nodded, convinced Catherine would be impressed.

Catherine nodded along but not for one moment was she impressed in the least.

"His grace was generous. He granted my father large holdings, but," he paused.

"We are no relation."

Lola looked at him pityingly. How she wished Catherine would help.

"You come from former servants," Catherine smiled tightly.

Lola stiffened.

"My, what a rise your people have made... I do love a success story."

She smiled and leant forward.

Lola and Collin waited in baited breath.

"Stay and tell me all about it!"

Lola's sigh of relief was so loud even England could probably hear it.
