13th-17th July 2028.
"The earth shines yellowish from the bright sun filtering through the leaves. The surface simmers at a mediocre 25 degrees Celsius, on a good day. By night, the temperature goes down to -10 sometimes. An usual summer of todays.
After it happened, who wouldn't be grateful? The ozone is just good, no more global warming, no more blackouts, no more nothing. Because there is nothing left. The power went out in 2018, right after I finished highschool. Some say God did this for revenge for going over His words. Scientists who are left say it was just a natural effect for exploiting too much earth resources. They also say it might come down to an ice age in 20 years or so, but that's just theory. Power is just gone. Bullets can't be produced that easy, food is hard to find and houses are luxuries people can't afford. Some things are still unexplainable: old things like Trolls, Dragons and Griffons are once again alive, out of nowhere, yet have been seen only a couple of times each year, killing people at random. Magic, generally, came back to life after it was thought it never existed.
I am grateful for all this. I was kind of addicted to technology when I was a teen. Now I grew up, and enjoy the time I have left, searching for my ol' pals.
Those left living are just people as sick minded as me, those who could just watch away from the corpses left after the war, and just go on. To hell with the war... when I was 19, one year after I kind of finished highschool ( because I couldn't get my degree), WW3 started. Huh... More like a cold war. People shooting each other for just a can of expired pickles, some pot and a cigarette or two.
I lost my parents during those days. I was left alone, transported by the "so called" Army of the States. People selected by the past governors, to protect the weak. Also, those who are traitors, and killed the last few who wanted law and order.
We're now handling swords, daggers, armor for self defense. There are few inns in the bigger cities of The States where is safe to sleep... "The States" is the new "idyllic" country. Or maybe no country. I don't know where I am, there are no maps showed to the public, the ones that have the power are tyrants. Road signs have been vandalized. The world is just an empty infinite of hopes, full of death that awaits. Everyone speaks different languages, gibberish, German, Italian, some Asian languages, maybe Chinese. Nobody knows where they are, there are just towns, local maps, and natural borders. Those who adventure out are either killed, robbed, molested or tortured for fun.
All that's left is kill or be killed, in this heavenly hell. "
