he stared at her as she sat in the tree with him on a warm afternoon.
"have you ever just watched the sky melt away?" she asked as the sun burned in the blue sky.
he shook his head, "no."
"it's kind of like love. at first it's pretty and hazy, but as you near the horizon, it burns and melts and sizzles setting every emotion off. your heart is confused with your mind, and when it's all gone or done, it turns dark. you either wake up to the beautiful dusting of stars in the sky or the black blanket of night."
"where are you at?" he asked.
"i think i'm between the haziness and the melting sunset. it's been weird trying to act normal around you when you know i like you and all," she tried to laugh.
he just smiled at her and said, "i'm at the beautiful stars of the night sky twinkling and dancing back at me. it's kind of frightening because it's the first time i've felt it, but i think i've reached my destination."
she shrunk and her cheeks burned with color as she asked, "who's the lucky girl?"
"you."
