"Ahhh!!"
I jumped, you think hearing people's screams all the time would get you used to it, but it doesn't. You see, I work at a theme park and most of my jobs are to start the rides for everyone. That means making sure they are secure in their seat, having to stop the ride if someone starts panicking, and dealing with people throwing up right afterwards. The best part of my job was getting to go on rides whenever I wanted to, and free theme park food. Plus, I get to work with my best friend, Phoenix.
"Arizona!" I heard a familiar voice say, "Wait up!"
I stopped in my tracks and turned around to see my best friend, Phoenix, running towards me with a cup of 'Dippin Dots' in his hand.
"I was just going to Black Widow, whats up?" I asked him.
Black Widow was the scariest ride at the park. Well, next to the new ride that's coming out this summer, Flashback, I couldn't wait.
"Seth asked me to take his shift over there and I saw you heading over there so I got you some 'Dippin Dots'."
"Oh my gosh! Thank you! This is why I love you." I said nudging him and taking a spoonful of the delicious substance in my hands.
We walked to the ride and saw the largest line right in front of us. Luckily, we could just go through the back to get up there.
Once we reached the top, all I saw was complete madness. There were people jumping up and down ready to go on the rides, people shaking like crazy, and people acting like the largest and scariest ride in the state was nothing to them.
"Phoenix, Arizona!" We heard our co worker, Myla yell, "Man I love saying that."
I rolled my eyes and got in the booth where we start the rides. Phoenix and Myla went to check if the seats were secured and gave me a thumbs up. I handed them each a bag of fake spiders and they went to give one to each person.
On this ride, we give every person a fake black widow and see if they still have it afterwards. If they do, they go to the park entrance and get a free t-shirt saying, "I survived the Black Widow". Most people always drop them so when the park closes, we go down and collect all of them for the next day.
"Thank you for waiting in this super long line and good luck on Black Widow! Whoop!" I cheered enthusiastically and grinned when I heard all the people cheer with me. I loved my job, and the people who worked with me.
After about an hour of working on the Black Widow, Phoenix, Myla, and I decided to go and get something to eat and called some more workers to take over for us. Liam, Riley, and Hannah came and filled in our spots about 10 mins after I called them.
"Thanks guys, we are going to go work on some other rides and go eat. Want anything?" I offered.
Riley answered, "Nah, we're good, have fun!"
"Speak for yourself! I'll have a soda, please." Liam replied. I giggled and nodded walking away with Phoenix and Myla. We went to a booth and ordered a small pizza and a slushie. We just talked and laughed while eating. Man, I love these two people in front of me.
"I'm going to go get Liam's drink, I'll see you guys later!" Myla told us.
"Okay, meet at our usual spot before closing!" Phoenix said. She nodded and walked in the opposite direction of us. Well, I should say skipped in the opposite direction of us. Sometimes, I wonder how that girl is so happy all the time, I am always happy when I am with my friends or even alone, as long as I am out of the dreadful house I live in.
"Hey Phoenix, Arizona!" We turned around and saw our boss, Ray walking towards us laughing to what he just said. Turns out he didn't have anything important to say, he just wanted to say our names together.
