MONTHLY WAR
By: Adigun Temitope Idealism

January
This silence handcuffed the tongue of peace's shadow
where men that came from hell
scattered, murdered and butchered souls in-between these unspoken lines
these souls, trembling, doddering and trudging
aimlessly, hopelessly with their eyes and faces
drown taut with woe

February
It all started afresh again
we are all die yesterday with our last protections
and our soldiers plunged into brutal conditions
their garments designed with holes
and striped with bloods

March
We thought the last two months works for everlasting peace
until darkness of yester crumbles us away
our fields no longer grow
our men marched asleep
and drunk with fatigue
while our women sang choruses of sorrow

April
Again, men from hell!
came dive at us; guttering, choking and drowning
our souls before our shadows
and our hearts beneath our minds
with their faces like the devil's sick of sin
Bonds to the whims of murder

May
Silence falls into the land again
as another war arises
war of Pens and inks
one hopes to win
while one expect the enemy to lose
Who is the enemy?
it leads to war of cannon and bayonets

June
Our face darkly clouded
with plague yet to come
as our light melted by their sun
and our moon strives hard to come out of the passed past
conquest of men from hell's heritage

July
It wasn't like a black and white television
so many colours it was,
caused by chaos and confusion
the image still lingers in our head
and the thought numbs us for ages

August
We cruised apart
like a raft broke in half
we dressed up in happiness with the fragrance of pain
plenty of nights and our souls go on sad
these eyes were opened when our hearts were broken

September
Fear of another month consumed us
as the pain of yesters deeper than ocean
inside our body lives the commotion
our minds move in slow motion
at the point we wish there was another option

October
We stand in front of the mirror of this land
staring into our past reflection
picturing those past months
that has extinguish the joy of our past years
the past is dark but can't be forgotten

November
Murder grown to be repetitive
as innocent blood cries out from the ground
million of souls without bodies march throughout the streets
protesting for peace for those remaining weak livings
praying to gods even when they are dead

December
Our voice has been kidnapped
as this evil star-bomb overshadowed us
our protecting cloud is hidden by their darkness

But what if this war never existed
what if this existence is not real
what if this war has been a dream
what if anything never happened
Let it all halt here
