The school known as Death Edge Academy is a place where those with excellent fighting abilities pair up with those with special magical abilities to defeat demons known as three different types. The Heartless, The Nobodies, and the Fiends. These three classes of demons attack on the living, the non-magical, and even our own students. These demons eat the hearts of humans and, depending on the person, they transform into one of these monsters. As such, it is the job of different people to fight these three types of groups and learn all about them. Weapons and Meisters work together to defeat these three. You see, our headmaster, Death, has made the academy in order to teach us about them and to train us to save humankind. Otherwise, the world will be plunged into eternal darkness and chaos.
……
I waited a while for the Fiends we were supposed to be searching for. I heard an irritated groan coming from my right.
“How long are those damn things going to take? We haven’t got all day.” I looked over at my partner and shrugged, turning back ahead.
“Who knows? Just remember to actually try this time. I get you think that you can defeat the Fiends easily, but, it’s the last one if he sent us to get it.” He let out a slight chuckle.
“In other words, I have to waste my breath on a pathetic Fiend, right?” I sighed.
“If you’d like to put it that way…but, remember, I’m here too.” I turned back to my partner. His name was Vanitas, and he was a self-centered, mean, angry brat. Of course, that didn’t stop me from choosing to be his partner. It was mainly the fact that he was strong, and no one else seemed to want to be his partner for those traits. He had black hair that stuck up and never seemed to fall down, and gold eyes, normally in a cold menacing glare, like they were now. He scoffed.
“Whatever. I can beat this thing even without your help. I have magic, remember?” I looked at him with the corner of my eye to see that he was sitting down and lighting a little black and blue flame at the top of his hand, his gold eyes reflecting it. I shrugged.
“If you say so…” My eyes then looked back in front of me.
“They’re coming.”
“Hmm?” We heard a some panting screams and saw a woman running soon enough, but then she tripped. Suddenly, coming after her were three Melusine fiends. They were coming quick, and just before they struck, they heard a laugh coming from Vanitas. They turned quickly, allowing the woman to escape from them. He got up and turned to me.
“These pathetic things? They sent me to beat these things?” I smiled a little.
“Maybe they decided to finally stop believing in your abilities too much.” He scoffed.
“I doubt it. So, Fiends…” He smirked.
“Ready to die?” The fiends made out a screech and Vanitas held his hand out.
“{Name}.” I nodded, taking his hand.
“Right.” I said, before transforming into his weapon, the Keyblade. As soon as the fiends came, Vanitas slashed them, causing them to disappear. All except for one, who was running away. He scoffed.
“Damn coward.” He said, while I agreed.
“Yeah, seriously.” He smirked a bit wider.
“Don’t go turning into Fuu all of a sudden.” I let out a laugh.
“I am not. Now let’s go after the damn thing.” He nodded.
“Could’ve said it better, but I’m glad you said that anyway.” He said, chasing after it. After catching up with it, Vanitas finally slayed it and we saw the colors of lights disappear into the night, along with the body vanishing. Vanitas scoffed.
