Dear Spot,
So, I figured I would write to you today. I mean, I know you haven't forgotten, but it still makes me happy to think that today is my birthday. I can't believe I'm eighteen today. I can do so much I couldn't do before, today! Oh, and thank you for the chocolates and roses you sent me. They're beautiful and I have them in a vase in my apartment right now. Also, tell my father thank you for new pencil pouch and the hundred dollars he sent.
Anyway, I can't wait until four months from now when my train will roll into the station and I'll walk up to lodge door and find you and Jack and Race all playing poker. I'll give you all big hugs and it will be so amazing to see you all again! I love you all so much!
Tell Jack that I loved the new dress. That's a very good style for me. It's not to poofy and cumbersome. It fit quite nicely and the high heels were very nice too. I only wear the dress to formal occasions. Oh, and tell Race that even a handbag was an odd gift to give someone like me, I've found it quite useful to carry my books and supplies in.
I also heard from Race that you're going to become a write for the New York Sun with the help of Our Man, Denton. I'm so proud of you! I know you'll do amazing. It's quite upsetting to leave your Newsies and retire from your position of authority at first, but you end up seeing all the ways it benefits you!
Well, I should probably start studying for this huge exam I have at the end of the week. If I don't pass, I don't graduate. Anyway, I love you and miss you so much!!
All my love,
Jay
