Silence
Is but a broken promise
Only emptiness where sound should beIt is the empty air
That was once occupied
By someone you loved
And admiredBut is no longer there
Silence is only a reminder
Of all the voices you have lost
Of all the times you can never have again
All the moments that are lostAll because the single moment
Of deathSilence chews away
The happiness of your life
Always there
Always biding its time
Ready to pounce at any moment
And remind you
That so many have been lostOnce upon a time
Voices echoed off the walls of being
Air was always filled with hands
And hearts
And smilesAll for you
But now
There is only silenceThe blackened tone of death
Silence.The constant reminder
That someone is missing
Silence.Silence is the memory of Goodbye
It is final moments etched into your mind
It is the days when everything could just
Stop.
And you wouldn't even noticeAnd even when the sky is filled with stars
And laughs
And hearts all beating to the same rhythmSilence is still there.
Reminding you that all you have
Will one day be gone.
And you will too.Because there is no way to stop
Something
That isn't there.
