I was walking down the streets of downtown looking into shoppe windows. My mother had given me some money to buy my aunt Tara a gift for her birthday. None of the shoppes contained anything that looked promising.
Finally. I saw one with a display of handmade jewelry and hardcover books that had elaborate illustrations. This looked like something my aunt would like.
When I entered little bells jingled. I hated that. It was a huge pet peeve of mine to be hounded by store people. I'd rather just enter unnoticed and be left to explore in peace.
It felt refreshing in the little shop compared to the thick humidity outside. There were all kinds of fans in different places in the shop blowing at me no matter what aisle I stepped through.
I began toward the west wall, where there were big round vases with bright colors streaming through them. I slid my finger down the cool, smooth glass of the base of it. I saw a stand with a lot of necklaces with unique beads. Tara would like these. I found one with matching earrings. They had big red globes with tiny pearly beads strung in a pattern.
It didn't appear as though anyone was even attending the shop. I'm not complaining, but what if I was a thief or something? I saw a bell on the counter next to the cash register. I'd never been the type of person who rung those though. I might as well appreciate the cool air coming from the fan while I'm in here waiting. I stood near the front window of the shoppe with a fan blowing through the thin cotton of my top.
I saw an attractive guy who looked a few years older than me walking across the street. He was tall and had dark brown styled hair. He grabbed the hand of a girl coming out of a coffee shop, who was presumably his girlfriend and pulled her into an alley between two shops and began kissing her. This caused her to drop her coffee and she pushed him off and started scolding him. I wondered if I had a boyfriend that cute if I would care or if I would be annoyed too.
He picked her coffee up and threw it out. He licked his fingers and went in to kiss her again. I wished that I could be her right then. I don't think I'd be mad.
Then I blacked out.
