Author's Note:
Hey guys! This is the first book that I've ever written so please do be lenient on me :) I've always had a thing for love stories so it may seem cliche but I find the concept of flashing lights and theatre really apt. So I'm super excited about writing this story! I actually planned it out in like 10 minutes while I was backstage waiting as an emcee. But I'll develop it more along the way (hopefully I'll have the time to). My goal is for the number of reads to reach the million mark :) I don't know if it ever will happen but anything is possible :) So yup, there you have it. A basic intro about me and this book. Enjoy! :)

BRANGGG...BRANGGGG...BRANGGGG...!
"Ugh," I moaned into my pillow, as the alarm clock at my bedside table ceaselessly rang. I clutched onto my blanket and tucked myself further into bed, placing whatever fabric available over my ears to block out the blaring noise.
BRANGGGGGG
"Ugh shut up will you?" I asked rhetorically as I slammed an outstretched arm onto my alarm clock. Finally, silence landed upon the room - or so I thought. Just a few seconds after my moment of peace and tranquility, I felt a furry texture caressing against my bare legs. I could hear her panting. She made her way up to my upper body, and started to lick my face.
"Get off me Ruffles!" I yelled in exasperation, obviously nettled by the fact that my sleep had been disrupted yet again. Ruffles was my golden retriever. She's the most adorable pet I've ever owned. However that morning, she proved to be a huge pain in the butt. She just continued to slab her saliva onto my face even after my forceful endeavours of pushing her away.
Then she started barking. She just had to bark.
"Gosh Ruffles can you please just stop it already," I irritatedly lifted my blanket, sat up and slumped against the headboard. Ruffles looked at me with seemingly apologetic eyes and whimpered feebly as she shifted back a little. Immediately I felt bad. "Aww no, okay I'm sorry Ruffles. It's just that I've had a really long night preparing for today's musical and I - " Wait a minute.
I turned around to look at the time.
1 o' clock. The play starts at 3 today. Oh well. Guess I'm gonna be late.
I pushed my covers aside and got up, nearly flinging Ruffles off the bed. Today was our school's first showcase of Mamma Mia to the public, and I was playing Sophie Sheridan.
I quickly washed up and put on a simple dress which could be easily taken off for smoother outfit change later on. I glanced at my body-length mirror on my wall. "Alysson. You're gonna do great. Like you always have," I stated nonchalantly, shrugging my shoulders. Theatre had always been my thing. I could sing and I could act. I was the best of the best to be honest. I mean, if you know you're good, you might as well brag about it right?
As if she could hear my thoughts, Ruffles barked at me in admiration and praise. I quickly patted her before grabbing my bag, slipping on a pair of flats, and headed downstairs.
"Hey mom," I greeted my mother cheerfully. She was seated at the kitchen counter, aimlessly flipping through a fasion magazine and sipping a cup of freshly brewed coffee. My mum was rarely at home. Even on weekends. She was a fashion stylist, so she travelled a lot. Same for my dad. I hardly ever see him. He was the manager of one of the richest oil production companies in the world. So if you haven't guessed by now, yes, I am rich. I am filthy rich.
"Hi sweetie," my mother replies, her eyes never failing to part from the magazine in front of her. A tinge of sadness seeped into my heart, but it had quickly disappeared when she diverted her attention to me. "Are you heading out?"
