Chapter 1: Just-Average-Looking test

Like always the clangoring clock took the soul out of my body and exploded my head. I unwantedly slid my cosy blanket off of my trembling body and sat incurvating my thin structure. Stretching my hands as far as they can possibly reach, I took a deep yawn which made me feel a bit charged up. Cringing at thought of last night, I rubbed my eyes in an utter hope to filter my mind from the memories that squeeze my artery, leaving no blood to reach to the veins.

Undesirably, I stood up and dragged my feet in the direction of the bathroom. I was in dire need of a hot shower to ease up my tensed muscles. I just wish someone comes to me and evokes in me the purpose of my life. I just wish for someone to reach out to me and pull me out from the never ending black hole I was falling incessantly into. I just wish someone opens the bottle's cork, I was stuck in, which was thrown into a brobdingnagian sea by a long lost island-dweller and save me from running out of breath and giving in. Drop by drop, hot water was rolling down my skin leaving smouldering feeling to the areas it came in contact with. I could not waste my whole day pondering over the past and leaving my future unsupportive, but I have nothing else to do with my life. I once again tried to shun all the negative thoughts and closed the already running tap.

I let my blazing body cool down for few minutes, opening my wardrobe meanwhile. I took out a V-necked, sky blue tank top pairing it with dark blue jeans and my lucky Nike sneakers to get on with another tedious day. Before heading out downstairs I took a short glance of myself in the full-length mirror hanging in my dressing; a little tint of green surrounding my pupil, dull pink lips, pale-looking skin, ebony-coloured hair reaching just below my neck bone, 5'6 height, body with less curves; neither on the fat side nor skinny, I pass my just-average-looking test.

"Lia honey, you'll be late for school", my mum called me in her sweetly disguised voice, with a cherry over the top.

I opened my mouth to form words which came out treaclier than I expected "Coming in a bit, mum" and let out a deep sigh before turning my door knob, wincing at the beginning of another Mr. Pretending day.

I stomped my way downstairs, avoiding any sort of eye contact with my parents which would be capable of giving me flinch of unwanted flashbacks. As quick as possible, I headed to the kitchen to prepare a bowl of choco-crunch. To my disappointment, dad fetched me the packet of milk and I added it into the cereal with my eyes shoved into the bowl. I began gobbling up my breakfast seated on the kitchen counter and vacuumed the bowl in no time. I was definitely not looking ahead to any conversation, so I hung my backpack over my right shoulder and rushed myself to the main door like a bullet.

'Good luck for the first day at your school, Hun', my parents happily chirped in unison. There was distance in their voice; distance that holds grudges with my family and which has returned for vengeance.

"Luck has never been my pal; it never looked after me when I shatter into pieces like broken glasses every night", I mumbled, leaving another deep sigh as I closed the door behind me with a bam.
