Praying for Cancer

You lie awake every night
Waiting for it all to end
Your friends try to help you fight
But none of them understand

You don't tell them the prayers
The secret ones meant for God
The ones where you beg for death
The moment you give up hope

Your prayers speak death
They ask for help with pain
You pray beg for your final breath
You try your best to keep sane

Then the thought comes to mind
A way to end all the misfortune
Cancer is an escape for me
Just another way to give up

I ask for cancer, so all can stop
For different pain than this aching
For these chains to finally pop
Everyone tells me I'm only faking

I beg for cancer, to punish them all
So they can feel the same as me
I miss the feelings of strength I had
With cancer, I'm sure they would see

Death may solve what life cannot
Cancer sounds horrible, but it can help
When I am lost, I cannot stop
This pain unbearable, should not be felt
