So Far Away

Chapter 1: Waking up

I awoke to a familiar sight myself and friends huddled up in a room. I looked down at my arms only to see they where not mine. They where machine, cybernetic implants to be exact. Everyone in our group had them except for a few. Those few never left the base for the outside world is far to dangerous. I remember how we got these implants, It was three months ago.

"Everybody in " I screamed as we fought off police drones or at least what was left on them. You see several months ago America suffered a huge cyber attack from a unknown source. The cyber attack planted a virus in every single machine across America, with the exception of cybernetics. this virus caused the machines to go rouge and well, kill everyone. I heard Sara scream my name as she tossed me a assault rifle "Quick Catch " She started to shoot the machines " you only have to clips so make it count" Sara was one of those people who was very cautious but at the same time straight forward.

I passed Sara's bed and shook her awake "wake up, its time for scouting". Sara awoke drowsily "already come on give me five more minutes". I shook my head " five minutes is all it takes Sara you should know this". She nodded it did only take five minutes. Five minutes to lose a friend.

I remember rookie. Sara does to after all she still holds his last wish and his death on her shoulders. Back on the fight for H.Q she watched him die, it went a little bit like this. "Sara take the shot" rookie screamed from behind cover. "but i only have one bullet left" Rookie walked over and looked at Sara " take the shot, now" Sara nodded and shot the robot, Barely making it flinch. Rookie merely sighed and picked up a nearby turret that had been knocked down "Sara I'm gonna do Something I cant come back from I need you to keep this one wish". Sara nodded but was hesitant to reply. "Rookie you don't have to do this" he merely laughed "Its the only way" ."keep them safe" with that Rookie ran into the field and fired madly he only had 50 or so rounds so soon he was out and in 5 minutes he was gone.

I kept walking until I got to the console room. There I saw Hannah the one who kept me alive Physically and mentally, and Aiden the one who kept our gear functioning. Hannah saw us and said " up early now are you not". I smiled "yeah but we'll never be faster then you two. Hannah briefly smiled and checked the health readings on both of us. "Your both good health wise, You sure you don't want to wait for the others" I nodded and looked at Aiden he merely said " hey metal limbs if there was something wrong I would have stooped you" . I laughed a bit and walked towards the exit. Sara and I put on our helmets and looked into the destroyed city around us. " you ready?" I asked She nodded and we jumped on the nearest wall.
