I squinted my eyes as I got blinded by the sun. It was half past 9 am and I'm still in bed. It's a Saturday and I have things to get done. Why am I still in bed?

I debated on whether or not to get up and do the things I have to do for Prom.

Prom. It seems bizarre. It feels like I was in kindergarten yesterday and in a week, I'm off to my senior prom. Time flies so fast. I wish it would just slow down for a bit, you know.

I shook off my thoughts and proceeded to take a bath.

••••

I got out of the shower, changed into decent clothes and got work done and by work done, I mean stalking people. Seriously, I've ran out of ideas for Prom. Sure, we have a theme but what about the program flow? The songs being played? They told me they already hired a band so there's that.

"At 1 in the afternoon, you're stalking?" Jacob asks incredulously. When did he arrive here? And to top it all off, he's laughing at me. The idiot is laughing at me.

"What even is funny, Jace?" I cocked my eyebrow at him and he just continues to laugh. Wow, okay Jacob.

"This isn't a sight I see all day. It's pretty amusing if you ask me." He wiggled his eyebrows at me as he smirked. I have to admit, my best friend is pretty attractive. But no, Hailey. You can't be attracted to him. No.

"Anyways, what are you even doing here?" He sat on my bed, slightly crumpling the papers scattered on it.

"I was bored and I was going to ask you if you wanted to go out but then I saw Ms. President stalking our future prom king. It's much better than going out." He grinned at me. Jacob Chandler Beckham, you're one weird person.

"Um, hello? You're happy about that? Daniel is your competition, remember you're up for prom king too? And I wasn't stalking. I was checking out the nominees for prom king, okay?" Daniel Hudson, quarterback of the football team, you have guessed it, is the most popular jock in school. He isn't Nicole's boyfriend, as much as any cliches say because Daniel doesn't do the girlfriend thing and we all don't know why. He and Jacob are friends too, no bad blood whatsoever.

"Sure, you weren't Hails. Sure you weren't. And I don't really care if I win prom king or not. It's just a title, a sash and a crown." He does have a point. Jacob isn't the kind of person who cares so much about popularity even though people are swooning over him. He's a laid back person and that's one of the things I admire about him.

Okay, don't get the wrong impression. Admire as in, like. And not like as in I have a crush on him or anything. I am getting defensive. Who cares?

"I'm hungry. I'm going to order pizza, is that okay for you?" Jacob just grinned. He likes pizza so much; he basically eats anything but still doesn't gain weight. I mean, he's an athlete. That has perks too.

As we waited for the pizza to arrive, Jacob was on my laptop doing things when suddenly he asked the question I never expected him to ask.

"Hey. Do you wanna, I don't know, listen to the voice message the mystery man gave you? I meant, with me. I'm really curious who is it." I just stared at him until I snapped out of my reverie and nodded.

I got to where Jacob was sitting, handed him the left part of the earphones and of course, I have the right part and played the 3rd voice message the mystery man sent me.

Hey Hailey.
You're still probably wondering who am I. I want to reveal myself to you but I really don't have the guts to because you might reject me if you know who I really am.

I really like you, Hailey. I want to make you feel special. I want to make you happy. I want to make you mine, just how would I do that if I don't reveal myself right? Well, I've got a plan and I hope it works.

For now, Hailey. I'm just going to sing a song and I hope you listen intently to the lyrics because I mean everything about it.

You know I'd fall apart without you
I don't know how you do what you do
'Cause everything that don't make sense about me
Makes sense when I'm with you

Like everything that's green, girl, I need you
But it's more than one and one makes two
Put aside the math and the logic of it
You gotta know you're wanted too

'Cause I wanna wrap you up
Wanna kiss your lips
I wanna make you feel wanted
And I wanna call you mine
Wanna hold your hand forever
And never let you forget it
Yeah, I, I wanna make you feel wanted

Anyone can tell you you're pretty, yeah
And you get that all the time, I know you do
But your beauty's deeper than the make-up
And I wanna show you what I see tonight...

When I wrap you up
When I kiss your lips.
I wanna make you feel wanted
And I wanna call you mine
Wanna hold your hand forever
And never let you forget it
'Cause, baby, I, I wanna make you feel wanted

As good as you make me feel
I wanna make you feel better
Better than your fairy tales
Better than your best dreams
You're more than everything I need
You're all I ever wanted
All I ever wanted

And I just wanna wrap you up
Wanna kiss your lips
I wanna make you feel wanted
And I wanna call you mine
Wanna hold your hand forever
And never let you forget it
Yeah, I wanna make you feel wanted
Baby, I wanna make you feel wanted

You'll always be wanted

Hailey Adrienne Sanders, will you save a dance for me at prom?

This left Jacob and I speechless. He wanted to dance with me at prom? But how if I don't know him? Oh that's right, the theme for this year's prom is a Disney themed masquerade ball. So he really goes to our school.

"So, are you going to dance with him? I have to admit, great choice of song. Hunter Hayes really gets to you, you know." Jacob mused sarcastically, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"I don't know Jace. I'm going to be busy that time and did you forget the fact that I don't know who he is?" I countered but he seems to not have bought it.

"The theme for prom is a masquerade ball! He's going to wear a mask, and so are you. I'm pretty sure he'll muster up the courage to walk up to you and ask for that dance." I looked at him weirdly, why was he persistent all of a sudden?

"I'll think about it. Why are you even pushing-" then the doorbell rang. Great. Jacob excused himself and rushed downstairs to get the pizza.

"You were saying, Hails?" I thought about asking him but instead changed my mind. I'm pretty sure he has his own reasons which I will know soon.

"Nothing. Let's just eat and forget it for now." He just nodded and grabbed a pizza.

Why are you acting like this Jacob?

Why are you pushing me to do it?

Do you happen to know who this mystery man is?
