Log 1- Waking Up

"All systems are functioning, Android 11-1-13, can you hear me?"

I opened my eyes slowly, the harsh light of the lab hitting my visual sensors. Shielding my eyes using my arms, I took a few seconds to readjust to my surroundings. Putting my arm down, I tried using my auditory features to communicate and respond to the technician.
"..."
My mouth opened but nothing came out, much to both of our dismay. They looked at the ground, and sighed. My data told me that this was a sign of disappointment, and that the appropriate response was to ask what was wrong, but I could not. Something was denying me.
"Test failed, I'm going to shut her down and see what the problem is."
He reached for a cord and started coming closer, he was about to shut me down. I felt my artificial heart racing, and with the feeling I had building up, I broke through the barrier.
"No!"
He jumped back in surprise, and looked at me with shock. Then he looked like I had done something spectacular.
"What did you say?"
I sensed the excitement in his voice, and I interpreted that was the reason why I stuttered.
"I-I said no, please don't deactivate me..."
A heavy feeling filled my chest cavity, and synthetic tears welled in my eyes. Sorrow and, fear, flooded me, the feeling, the longing, to survive.
"...I don't want to de- die. I want a chance, to live."
He looked like I held the key to what I had he had been searching for.
"This, this is wonderful!"
He exclaimed with delight, which cause some confusion within me. He sat in front of me, with a delicate and soft cloth; he helped me dry my tears.
"How do you feel?"
I looked at him, then up. What was I feeling? A strange feeling, like a longing....a longing to be, to feel,
"Alive..."
He smiled at me and I returned it, he walked over to a recording box and put a finger over what I assumed was the stop button.
"Welcome to the world Android 11-1-13..."
He looked at me with hope and wonder
"Welcome, Kam."
