Nicole

Being in a room full of people but not knowing a single person in there was pretty lonely. All of these people had been here since the start of tour and I was now just joining. There had already been friendships made and I felt like I was the odd one out.

That being said, I was sitting alone at a table in catering until the chair opposite of me made a screeching noise as it moved against the linoleum floor. Looking up, I was caught off guard.

"You're Nicole, right?"

Luke slide into the seat, holding his hand out, smiling awkwardly at his weird greeting.

"That'd be me, also known as the girl you spilled a bucket of water on yesterday." I grasped his hand, sending him a warm smile to try to say I was joking about it.

"Well it's nice to officially meet you. And I'm really sorry about that."

He apologized again. I waved him off, remembering that I couldn't actually forgive him because Savannah and Michael both wanted to prank him. I was definitely excited to see what she would come up with. The way Michael had talked about her previous pranks of running on stage with them and stealing their phones to post weird Tweets and Instagram photos had me laughing at it.

An awkward silence fell between us, leaving us to stare at dead space than start a new conversation. I didn't like that, though. I hate silences. I'm usually never awkward with meeting people.

"Where's the other three guys in this band?" I asked seeing that none of the other three guys had come down with him, seeing that this was a good place to start another conversation.

"Well, Ashton and Calum are working out with a training because in their words, they wanted to look ripped for girls and Michael is on his date with Savannah; leaving me to fend for myself." He chuckled.

I had actually known about Michael being on the date because he had stopped Taylor and I this morning to ask us for a favor tonight.

"Ah, they left you out, although you could possibly join Ashton and Calum. I don't think Michael would like you third wheeling."

"Oh, I know he wouldn't. Cal tried to invite himself, cause he didn't know it was a date, and Mike bitched him out so bad. Besides I already had my workout and baseball is not my favorite sport."

I was interested now. I crossed my arms, leaning forward on the table. "Well, what is your sport then?"

Luke's hand raised to his mouth, fiddling with his lip piercing. I hadn't meant to but my eyes flickered to his hand instead of keeping eye contact, watching the piece of metal move back and forth. Maybe it was a nervous habit for the boy.

"I'd like to say that I'm pretty good at soccer but I'm really not. I never cared much for American football either, so I guess I don't really have a sport."

I had snapped my eyes back to his as he talked, feeling my face heat up pretty quickly. Hopefully he didn't catch me staring at him.

"Well, since we're both out of friends and hanging solo today, would you want to hang out?" I asked, feeling like myself again after talking with him for a few minutes.

"Sure, sounds pretty good to me."
