As I walk into the building I walk into my fathers class and sit in the back this time.

" riles why are you back here?" I hear Maya ask me as she is in front of my desk.

" because I don't want to be up front or by Lucas!" I sigh as I look up and see Lucas walk into the class room and he glares at my dad.

" what did he do?" Maya asks I can see the anger in her eyes.

" he didn't do anything I promise!" I say laughing a little. Maya sits down next to me as my dad starts the lesson.

-------------after class------------

I am at my locker on my phone when someone comes up behind me and snatches my phone away.
" well look who is on there phone!" I hear Lucas say laughing. I roll my eyes and grab my phone back from him and slam my locker and start to walk away. " hey Riley wait up! I'm sorry I asked so many questions! I just want to protect you!" Lucas says grabbing my wrist making me wince.

" oh my god! Riley I am so sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you!" Lucas says letting go right away.

" its fine! And its OK you were just trying to help!" I say now facing him.

" can you please tell me what those were though please!" Lucas pleaded.

" you don't need to know! And I saw you glare at my dad today why?" I ask biting my lip.

" because I think he's the one that did that to you!" He says coming closer to me.

" w-why would you think that?" I stutter backing up into a wall. How does he know?

" because my father use to do the same to me! I moved here because of him and now I live in a little apartment here in this big city!" He says now trapping me.

" fine you got me! Yeah my dad does! Happy now? Hmm.....don't tell Maya or farkle! Don't tell anyone! I can handle myself!" I say freaking out.

" I won't only if you promise me you will get out of that house!" Lucas says backing away a little.

" where am I suppose to go? I don't have any money!" I say rolling my eyes.

" move in with me!" Lucas says sighing. " I have a bedroom just for you!" He says with hope in his eyes.

" fine but how am I suppose to do that?" I ask sitting down by the lockers.

" today I will come with you to pack everything that you need and we can go pick up my truck before we head over there!" Lucas says sitting next to me.

" you are a good friend!" I say smoking at him.

" I try!" I says laughing. " let's go! We gotta go to lunch!" He says holding his hand out for me to take it.

" thanks!" I say smiling as we walk to lunch. He makes me have real smiles! I don't have to fake my smiles! Maybe this will be a good thing!
