Ch. 1: My life Sucks!
Junior Year:
Bella's (POV)
"Bella honey get up you'll be late for school..." Renee yelled up to me.
Reneé's my mom, we live in Orange County, California and have for the past 3 years of my life. See my mom is divorced, my dad and her split up during the summer of 8th grade.
We used to live with him in Chicago, but now we live in sunny ol' California! Money wasn't a problem for my dad. He's a lawyer and has no time for family. That's partly why my parents are split up. They constantly fought about him not spending enough time with us. I don't know, I love both my parents equally but they frustrate me a lot too.
My mom just had about enough when I was about 14 and she decided that she had to get away from it all. Right after my 8th grade graduation she got a divorce from him and decided to move to California.
She took me along for the ride, she always did love the heat... but she always wanted the best for me and that's probably why she decided to send me to Orange County Day, a private high school for snobby rich kids.
Only problem is that she's not rich. See Renee is a fashion designer and she's really good but she is still trying to make a name and that means that the cash flow isn't that great. It's enough to send me to school and let us eat and keep a roof over our heads so I can't complain. She sends me to this school because she thinks it's the best or whatever.
Oh, and I also have a scholarship to go there. Not that I'm not grateful to her or anything. No way. It's just that I really hate the kids that go here. They all think that if you don't dress like they do or act like them your not good enough to even be acknowledged by them! Unfair right I know I've gotten used to it though. I've been going to this school since I was a freshman, so I know how things work around here.
"Bella, hurry up breakfast is getting cold!" Renee said. The best part about all of this is that I got to stay with my mom, and she's an amazing cook.
I got up and yelled down, "I'll be there in a sec. mom" I got my towel and took a really quick shower and blow-dried my hair.
I went back to my room and quickly grabbed my uniform off the rack from my closet put it on and then ran downstairs for breakfast. I gave Renee a quick hug and ate some pancakes and tossed the keys to her so she could drive me to school.
We only have one car and I am 17 so I can drive but Renee is too scared to get into a car with me, so she always insists on driving. Plus she has to go to work afterwards and she picks me up from school too. So much for trying to understand what that would do for my social status, not that I have one anyway...
We get into the car and it's a beat up old pick-up truck, the worst part is that its red but I don't mind because it's my mom's favorite color.
As Renee starts the car she says, "Bella did you iron your skirt?" I groan inwardly, man I really hate my uniform! The uniform policy began running through my head, my teachers loved to say it all the time.
For girls: Solid navy blue, tan or gray dress slacks or skirt, Solid white tailored blouse with buttons, Uniform school sweater or school blazer, Solid black dress shoes. For the guys' Solid navy blue, tan or gray dress slacks, Solid white dress shirt, Uniform school sweater or school blazer, Solid black dress shoes.
"No mom I didn't" I said as I slumped down in my seat.
"Bella you know it looks bad if you don't, and call me Renee."
"Yes, Renee I'm sorry, I'll remember to do it next time." My mom insists on me calling her Renee instead of mom.
She says its makes us closer to each other, so I just go along with it so I don't disappoint her. I don't disappoint her often and I try my best not to, so that she doesn't feel bad about what happened with dad.
I've always been a good student hence the scholarship to attend Orange County Day but I don't really care to go to the school. But more on that later, right now I needed a nap...
My mom nudged me awake just as she pulled up to the gated entryway. Orange County Day is a really great looking school, I'll give it that much.
It is a towering building set on top of a hill. It has a massive gated entryway that you use to drive up to the school and drop off kids. Usually there are limos and expensive cars and its embarrassing driving up there in the truck, but you get used to it.
You arrive at this huge brick building that has two marble doors complete with knockers and everything. There is grass surrounding the rest of the place, and a bike path, just beyond that is a basketball court, tennis court, swimming pool, and a fence surrounds the whole place.
Yes, the place is beautiful but the people who go here aren't.
I grabbed my bag just as soon as Renee pulled up in front of the school.
I said bye really fast and ran to the doors. I think to myself ugh.. I really hate this.. I can't wait to graduate and get out of this place forever, just as they opened and I bumped into a muscular figure just a couple of inches taller than me. I looked up into his eyes just as he looked into mine. They were the color of green emeralds.
