'Don't Do Drugs'

Every writer needs an Inspiration and Richard Castle finds his in the New York Police Department. Katherine Beckett: head detective in the NYPD pulled him in from his famous book signing events to investigate a murder which was in his event. This influenced him and gave him a very smart and annoying idea in the perspective of Detective Beckett to consult the NYPD on a few cases.

" So... What's our first case?" asked Castle as soon as he walked into the 12th precinct.

" What... are you doing here?" Said Kate in surprise.

"The mayor must have called... I am assisting your team on your next murder"

Katherine 'Kate' Beckett yelled "Captain! Is this man working with me on this case?".

Captain Montgomery raced outside and said that he was working with Kate and she had to include him in the entire investigation. Kate let out out an annoyed sigh and soon sat down to finish off her paperwork of the previous case. Castle intensely started to take notes on Beckett until the phone rang.

' Beckett, there is is murder on 24th street 5 avenue' said detective Javier Esposito.

' A woman around 24 found strangled and left on the street,' reported detective Kevin Ryan.

" We got a case, ready to go?" sighed Kate.

Castle got into the police car and they drove off to the crime scene. After what seemed like hours Castle and Beckett finally reached the crime scene and were there to find a young woman strangled to death and left to rot in the middle of a stranded and isolated street. The met with detectives Ryan and Esposito and got briefed on the murder. The crime scene looked like an ordinary street however was stranded in the corner of fifth avenue. There were no traces of any fibres left however some footprints were left behind in the mud and dirt.

" Lanie, what is the situation here?" asked Esposito.

"Well, based on lividity, I would say she died at around 2 to 3 this morning but I will have to get her back to the morgue for more details" reported Lanie.

" Do we have an identity for this woman?" questioned Kate.

" Actually we do, our is victim Sara Smith, 21 years old, worked in a boutique shop down the street," reported detective Esposito.

" Ok, send uniforms to canvas the area to a 2 block radius and try to contact her next of kin."

Kate and Castle left the crime scene and made their way back to the precinct. When Castle and Kate reached the precinct, Sara's mother was waiting for them, crying. Kate and Castle followed her to a private room to talk and gather more information.

" Mrs Smith, did you know about your daughter's whereabouts between 2 and 3 last night?" asked Kate soothingly.

"I'm sorry, but I can't help you with that, however she did call me at around 9 o'clock. She sounded extremely scared and frightened."

" Did you hear anything else: maybe background noise or anything that could give us a hint about where she was?"

"As a matter of fact I did. She was standing in a metro. I could hear the loud train noises and echoes in the background. That is why I couldn't hear her very well," reflected Mrs Smith.

Kate finally left the room and led Mrs Smith to the exit; she came back to the precinct and started examining the notes, sipping her coffee. After a while Kate called Ryan and Esposito. Castle presumed she had got a lead, which she had! Kate told both of them to go and investigate the closest metro to the crime scene to look for any eye witnesses that saw Sara leave the Metro and ask them if anyone knew where she was heading. Soon after all the paperwork, Ryan and Esposito left the 12th for further investigation.
