Ch. 3 New Beginnings

7 Years Later

After Lexi and Marco filled in with the rest of the one hundred and fourth squad, they sat down at the tables with the rest of the crew. Beginning to look around at all of the new faces, Lexi smiles as she excitedly pokes Marco in the side.

"This is so cool!" She whispers to him, as she looked at the food in front of her. Chuckling at her usual excitement, Marco took a piece of his bread and smiled back to her.

"Now, I just hope we don't get caught," He began to eat the bread. "Sometimes, Lexi you worry me."

"Whaaat?!" Lexi was distracted by the food. "Marco I didn't know you could get a bread stick! Where do you get them?!" He laughs again and points over to a table in the corner, knowing how easily distracted she could get sometimes. But before she stood up, she remembered his words and smiled over to him.

"Don't worry, brother. We will be fine....." She paused and looked over at the bread again. "Do you want another one?" As Marco shook his head, Lexi got up and walked over to the other side of the room, mumbling apologies as her tiny body squeezed through all of the other trainees.

As she approached the table, she quickly grabbed reached out her hand to grab a bread stick, but stopped as she saw another hand on top of hers. Turning to face the male she blushed slightly and removed her hand.

"Heh... S-sorry, you can have that." She gave the blonde male a sheepish smile and brushed some of her wavy black hair behind her ear.

"W-what...N-no I-I'm sorry I didn't t-think that I-...." The boy rambled about, apologizing to her as well, seeming clearly flustered.

"No, it's okay, seriously!" She smiled again, for the boy before her was acting so cute with all of his flustered acts. Looking to his wide crystal blue eyes, she let out a small chuckle. "It's just a bread stick. Look! I can grab this one!"

"Y-yeah..." The boy finally smiled back to her, feeling a bit more comfortable around her. As Lexi grabbed her own bread stick, he followed after and set one down on his tray. Trying to find the courage to speak, he paused and looked at Lexi once again.

"Oh! I'm sorry I didn't tell you my name!" Lexi spoke first and held out her hand. "I'm Alexa Bodt, but it's okay if you call me Lexi! I prefer that, yanno. It's just a little easier to roll of the tongue...."

"Hi, Lexi!" He reached out his own hand and shook it in hers. "I'm Armin Arlert."

"Armin, it's very nice to meet you!" She bounced in her spot and swayed her feet, a little too energetic. She loved the fact that she was able to meet new people, such as Armin. This was going to give her a new start in life. She was finally able to move forward and explore how much potential this life truly has. It should move freely to her, the training should be the easiest part to her future.

All she really wants to know is what exactly surrounds her, and how much she can learn about those creatures who kill. The creatures she hates so much, but can't stop her own curiosity when it came to them. It was her nasty little habit, her crazy dark secret that she taught herself to never speak about. Never to utter a single word.

"U-Uh, Lexi?" Armin's hands shook slightly, still holding the tray ahead of him, gazing at the small girl. She was different then his best friends, Mikasa and Eren. They were always either quiet or talking about something related to the survey corps, sometimes even arguing on how Eren should've never joined, or even how it was so important for him to be in the Survey Corps, because Eren knew himself how much they needed to drive the Titans out for good. But this girl in front of him was a very nice change; she didn't seem to be phased at all by the Titans. She seemed to be this overflowing ray of sunshine that could brighten up any day. You could maybe even talk to her about anything, and she would help you along your way if you needed help. She just had this aura about her that he couldn't really describe.
