Dangerous Dating

Draco knew he shouldn't do this.

But he had to.

They all laughed at him.

But he likes her.

But she's a mudblood!

But her hair is so soft-looking.

Draco mentally waged a war on himself in the inner workings of his brain. Back and forth, back and forth.

But Father wouldn't approve.

But she's so smart and pretty.

What'll Crabbe and Goyle say?

But her face is amazing.

The whole school will talk.

Have you seen her freckles?!?!

And, throwing on his cloak before he lost his nerve, Draco headed to Hagrid's hut.

"Luna, I don't know about this." The little blonde pushed Hermione with surprising strength.

"Yes you do. That's the Nargles speaking." Luna had purposely worn her Spectrespecs because of the raving "Nargles" swarming around Hermione's head. 

"I don't believe in Nargles."

"Don't say that! It angers them!" Luna shoved Hermione again. Hermione wondered how she could have such a peaceful, dreamy voice while violently abusing her close friend. She closed her eyes and allowed herself to be pushed along by Luna. 

Hermione was still wearing her school uniform, only with a hooded, black cloak thrown over it. Hermione pulled up the hood against the cold winds. With the garment, the air was tolerable, though her cheeks were still flushed red.

All of a sudden, Luna's hands on her back had disappeared. Hermione turned to see the blonde skipping away merrily as if she'd just discovered a cure for Nargles. Hermione rotated again to see a black figure in the distance leaning against a huge pumpkin in Hagrid's yard. Hagrid was away on official Hogwarts business, so the hut had been abandoned for several days. Hermione smiled and quickened her pace so she could sooner see Draco. 

As she neared the hut, she could see that Draco was smiling. Hermione walked up to him, and Draco grabbed her hand, still smiling.

"What?" Hermione asked.

"Ready for the most dangerous date of your life?"
