Sunlight hit me my face as I climbed from the cave. I squinted, looking around before climbing out completely. Everything was green, almost overwhelmingly so.

It was a nice change from the dim gray underground. I probably would've enjoyed the breeze and the sounds of birds a whole lot more if I wasn't fearing for my life.

Okaaaayy. Where do I find food? I thought.

I decided on going straight ahead, hoping it would be easy to find my way back. It wasn't long before I found a clearing full of berry bushes by a slow-moving stream.

I hope these things aren't poisonous. Actually, I hope they are so Sheila can eat them.

I chuckled to myself as I began to pick the berries and put them in a burlap sack I had brought with me. They weren't much, but we could probably use them as at meal.

I looked into the stream for any fish, not that I could catch any anyways.

Following the stream, I snacked on berries and looked for anything else that was edible. Looking for food is hard.

I stopped suddenly when I heard a snap. I slowly turned around and saw..
Absolutely nothing.

"Probably a deer or something..." I mumbled to myself.

A few wild carrots, some mushrooms, and a shit ton of acorns later, the sun looked about ready to set. Staying out at night was dangerous, and I was doing my best to not die, so it was time to turn back.

This was the hardest part, remembering how to get back. I had intended on following the stream, but I mean, distractions happen right?

There was the butterfly, and this weird looking bird I wanted a closer look at, and basically I was completely off course.

Suddenly feeling a wave of nervousness, I picked up the pace. I could feel something's eyes burn holes in my back.

It's a deer, it's a deer, it's a deer!

*snap*

Oh, shit.

*snap!*

Fuuuuuck. Please be a deer. I had started half-walking-half-running by this point.

*SNAP, SNAP, SNAP*

Oh god, deer can chase people right? I started full on sprinting.

Don't look back!

Everything was a blur. A terrifying green blur. All I focused on was not running straight into trees and not dying.

That was until my shirt got snagged on some thorns. I thrashed, hoping to break free from the satan bush. But that stubborn motherfucker wanted me to die or something, cause I could not get away.

The sound of footprints came to a sudden stop. Everything was still.

Slowly, I turned my head towards whoever it was that got me into this predicament.

Shit.

A tall, muscular man stood in front of me. His dark eyes looked me me up and down, his lips pursed. His muscular chest rose and lowered slightly from running. There was no way I would be able to fight this guy, or even run away. The bush made sure of that.

" Here!" I thrust the sack of food towards him. "It's all I have! Sure, I spent all day gathering this, and you will be responsible for the death of a lot of people, but go ahead."

He looked at me quizically. "Who said I wanted your stuff?"

"Oh I dunno, maybe the fact that you chased me through this fucking forest and I don't even know who you are?"

He grinned. That son of a bitch.

"Let me help you out of the bush, kid."

"Nooo. First of all, don't call me kid. I'm not a kid. Secondly, I can get out of this myself."

"No, you cant. Trust me." He went to the base of the bush, and pressed something. The plant made a mechanical sound before going almost completely limp.

"Was that a trap? You did that on purpose! Who even are you?" I stared ripping the thorny branches away from my clothing. He seemed unphased.

"The name's Rowan. You're bleeding, let me help you."

"I'm bleeding because of your dumb trap!" I kicked the dead looking plant. "I'm going home!" Wherever that is.

I looked around for a bit.

"I got you off course on purpose too. Sorry. Come with me and we can get you fixed up." I stared at him in disbelief.

"Why would I do that? Since we've met, you got me lost, and stuck in a mechanical bush trap!"

"I know, I'm sorry. Just, I dunno, please come with me? I won't hurt you I promise."

I sighed and looked at him. He seemed sincere, and it had gotten dark enough that I didn't want to be out here on my own.

"Fine. I'm still mad at you though."

He grinned again, "Well then, come on kid."

A/N
I had to do some research for this one. Did you know you can eat acorns? I didn't.
Anyways, this chapter is longer than the first so I'm proud of myself.
Kay that's pretty much it.
Bye
