15 year old Galena Short sat on her bed, accompanied by nothing but emptiness. Her cellphone rang, making her jump in surprise; upon answering it, she heard the familiarly deep voice of her boyfriend Alan.
"Hello?" she spoke through the line.
"Hi, GG!" Alan's voice crackled.
"Hey babe, what's up? Is it about our date tonight?" she asked inquisitively.
"Actually, it is, I'm sick, and I can't take you out." GG was upset at the news, but reluctantly complied, seeing as she knew that if Alan could take her to the movie, he would; merely to show off his driver's license if nothing else. After hanging up, GG decided to bring him some books to read while he was laid up in bed. Alan was an avid reader after all.
GG got to work after that; she biked to the bookstore, purchased seven thick, hardcover books. She grinned from ear to ear as she stuffed the stack into her shoulder bag and rode away.
When she pulled her bike into Alan's driveway, she was perplexed to see a car other than the one that his sister usually drove. She assumed that it was something that his parents had gotten him, but it didn't seem quite his speed; GG continued anyways. She put her bike against his house, and knocked on the door, and his sister, Rosey, answered the door.
"Hey, come on in! Why are you here?" she was genuinely confused. GG came in and took off her shoes.
"Well, i heard that my guy was sick, so i came baring gifts!" She started up the stairs, and saw the horrified look on Rosey's face.
"GG, before you do, know that i'm so so sorry!" Concerned, she went up the steps and saw Alan's door cracked open.
"Al, I brought you-" She stopped talking and her smile vanished. She saw Alan without his shirt on, mid-makeout with her friend Vanessa.
