And Kylene doesn't meet Clay in the prologues, but they will meet SOON! :D

Prologue

KYLENE'S POV
All I felt was a pain at the back of my head and the blue ocean before everything went black. I saw black, felt black, fell into the darkness. I couldn't breathe. My hands touched the harsh, rough edges of something, and I grasped it desperately. What was happening...? All I could think was 'I have to survive, I have to save myself.' Finally, I couldn't feel anything at all anymore. I was just...there. In some strange existence.
I don't know how long later, but when I could feel, aching and hurting, I opened my eyes. I saw blue. I had always liked the color blue. In fact, it was my favorite color. That's why I had always considered my eyes my best feature.
Everything was a bright blue. I blinked. I watched the waves rock and wash to the hot white sand beneath me.
Wait. Sand? Water?
I blinked a few more times, and weakly managed the strength to push myself up into a sitting position. My lunges burned, my throat hurt, my arms and legs ached, and I was absolutely miserable. I felt like I had been through hell and back again.
I didn't remember anything.
How did I get here? Where was I specifically? I looked around, squinting against the bright sun. I was at a beach, and behind me was a forest of trees. I looked out at the water, and the blue seemed to stretch out forever, endlessly. An ocean?
I placed my hands against the hot white sand and pushed myself up onto my feet. I wobbled unsteadily, but I managed to stumble to a rock under a tall, shady tree. I wasn't sure what kind it was. I climbed onto it, resting. I realized I was wearing a pair of khaki shorts and I was wearing a tank top with a hoodie. No shoes. I shrugged off the hoodie, shook sand from it, and tied it around my waist.
Then I noticed the locket around my neck. Slowly, I raised the chain over my head and held the silver heart in my fingers. Gingerly, I turned it over in my hands and brushed sand off it. Inscribed on it was: for my beautiful Kylene, love Mom and Dad.
I blinked. I hadn't realized I didn't even know my name. So...I was...Kylene? What an odd name. I opened the delicate locket. Surprisingly, there wasn't any water or sand in it. There was a picture however.
A picture of me, smiling. I had long light blonde hair, and my eyes were a bright blue. My arm was raised as if it was wrapped around someone. I wondered who it could be.
I snapped the locket shut. I realized I felt stronger, so I pushed against the big rock and landed in the sand. I felt a little light headed, and I still ached, but I felt much better.
Was I shipwrecked on an island like I had watched in television shows and read in exciting action books? How horrible could that be, if I really was? Maybe I just had some sort of amnesia and I actually lived here with someone. If I could just find somebody to help me out, I could get everything sorted.
Feeling determined now that I had a goal in mind, I walked into the trees, letting the coolness envelope me as I set out to explore.
