Callie and Brandon walked into the house, making sure to keep a reasonable distance between them. Stef and Lena were sat on the couch watching a movie while Jesus and Lexi were sat on the steps of the stairs that led to the second floor. “Brandon, Callie, is that you?” Lena called from the living room.

“Yes mom,” Brandon replied, smirking to himself. Callie noticed and elbowed him, only making him snort with laughter.

“I’m going to go upstairs,” Callie told Brandon, making sure he knew they could not be together all the time.

“You don’t need to tell me,” he replied, Callie nodding at his response.

“Okay.” She waltzed up the stairs, Brandon watching her every move until she was out of sight.

When she was safely on her bed, she dug her journal out from under her mattress. She pulled back the cover and flipped to a blank page.

I’m terrified. Brandon told me he loved me, and I couldn’t lie to him. I’m worried though now that things will get weird here and they’ll no longer want me and Jude…This is so stupid, I feel like such a girl. I am a girl, but that’s beside the point. Since when did I get boy problems?!

She shut her journal and placed it back under her bed, not aware that Stef had ran upstairs to grab something from her room and saw where Callie hid her writing. Callie got up and decided to go walk around downstairs, oblivious that Stef was even outside her door. When she was away from her room, Stef casually walked in and pulled out her journal. She carefully shuffled through the papers and was shocked at the last entry. Still stunned, she gently closed the journal and returned it to its spot.

Downstairs, she returned to Lena on the couch, her eyes wide and her mind elsewhere. “What’s wrong?” Lena asked, looking at her partner who seemed out of sorts.

“I think I know what’s been bothering Brandon,” she whispered into Lena’s ear.

“What?!” she asked, a bit too loud.

“Shhhh,” she replied. “Callie told him she didn’t love him after he told her he loved him.” Lena starred at Stef in disbelief.

“You’re joking,” she laughed, turning to continue to watch the movie.

“I’m not, I swear!” Stef said defensively.

“How do you know then?” Lena demanded, turning her head back to Stef.

“I may or may not have come across Callie’s journal, and I may or may not have read it…” Stef’s voice trailed off, a bit ashamed that she had snooped in Callie’s business.

“Stef you shouldn’t have done that!” she cried, sitting up straight.

“I couldn’t help myself,” she replied, letting out a loud and frustrated sigh. “I just, I’m worried about Brandon. Callie too. You should’ve seen how hard she sobbed when I confronted her. It took Brandon and I 20 minutes to calm her down.”

“Stef! They can’t have a relationship, why are you encouraging it?” Lena snapped, throwing her hands up exasperated.

“I’m not encouraging it, I just hate seeing B so unhappy. I don’t know what to do about them.”

“How about we let him figure it out?” Lena replied.

“How about you stop getting into my business,” Brandon hissed as he walked into the living room.

“Were you eavesdropping?!” Stef said in a stern voice. Brandon brushed off her question though.

“Stop talking about me. I know I haven’t been myself lately, but can’t a guy just go through a rough patch?! Why are all of you so freaked out and down my throat about everything freaking thing I do?!” he cried, Callie and Jesus walking in after hearing the screaming. “Moms, I understand you’re worried, but I’m fine! I’m not going to kill myself, nor am I depressed. Is it not okay for a goddamn human being to be sad once in a while?!”

“Excuse me?! Since when have you been allowed to curse in this house?” Lena asked, eyeing him as she stood up.

“Since my family stopped minding their own damn business,” he snapped.

“You’re our son which means you’re our business,” Stef yelled, standing beside Lena now.

“I need to get away from you fucking people,” he cried, walking away from his family and out the front door.

I got to admit, this chapter is pretty corny, but I decided to throw this in because the story only has 3 chapters left after this.

Don’t worry I have another story in the works that will be Ballie.
