Chapter 1
I was fourteen when my dad died. He was killed by my mom, who is now in jail. I live with my aunt and uncle who have 3 kids of their own and no time for me. I walk to school every morning at exactly 6:45 and get there at exactly 6:55.
I walk into school and set everything next to my first hour class. I am a junior, it has only been three years since I moved in with my aunt and uncle, I could tell they didn't want me as soon as I walked in the front door to their huge mansion house, but they where the only family i had. They have plenty of rooms but I guess those are for the guests. I sleep in the dusty attic with all the friendly mice and cockroaches on a mattress I brought from my house.
My lights better be out by 9:15 sharp or I get grounded, and I wouldn't actually mind if I did, because I never do anything anyways. I sit here in my room and write, write, write. Altho I know most of my stories aren't good, I love to write, and I will do what I love. My aunt and uncle think it is a total waste of time.
"Ray, go do something with your life instead of sitting here on your stupid computer and writing words that aren't going to help you in the future!"
"Ray! Get off your lazy ass and make something of your life! Make some money so you don't have to wear that hideous dress anymore, uhh!" The exact quotes of my uncle and aunt. Someone please kill me.
This morning at school I saw someone that I have never seen before. She was beautiful. She had long brown hair braided over her left shoulder, I saw her as I walked to my second hour. My best friend Gabby, who I met the first day I arrived in this hell whole, said she was new and her name.. Was Alex.
Alex was so beautiful I couldn't help it, I have never seen a girl so pretty in my life. She was wearing a light blue sundress with little pink flowers printed along the bottom and a white bow placed at the top of her braid, right above her ear. I felt weird when I looked at her, something inside my 5 foot 5 inch body was different. A good different.
I convinced Gabby to spend the night at my house so we could talk and watch girl code, I frickin love that show. She lives right across the street from my aunt and uncles in another large house almost as big as where I'm at. Her house is beautiful, her older brother is so hot, her parents are the sweetest. Boy, how I envy everything about her. The thing I envy the most though, is how nice and caring she is.
I can here her downstairs now, she is talking to my aunt who has loved her ever since she was a baby. My aunt and uncle are like second parents to Gabby because that house across the street is the only house she's ever known. When both he parents went off to work she would come over here and hangout with my aunt.
She still spends most of her time in the little side room by the kitchen, I would always here her open the glass doors and close them behind her as she took her usual place by her piano. My aunt bought a beautiful piano for her on her 12th birthday and she's loved it ever since, she's so good at it too, I could sit there and listen to her play that beautiful music all day long.
"Ray! Gabriella is here!" My aunt called me to her, like she always did, like a servant.
I ran down the stairs as quickly as I could, grabbed Gabbys hand, and ran to the living room on the far side of the house. I hangout here a lot, no one ever really notices. There is a huge tv that's about 80 inches but it's the smallest one in the house so they don't come back here.
Gabby set up her laptop and hooked up to the wifi, just like she did every time, and took a seat next to me on the soft corner couch facing the television. She is writing a book right now about two people that get locked in a house with a ghostly sprit. It's really good actually, a little too creepy for my taste, but good.
"Gabby?" I asked.
She put her pointer finger up at me and didn't take her eyes off the screen until she typed a few more words.
"Yes, cutie?" I liked when she called me that.
"Best friends forever right? No matter what?"
"Rachel, we will always be friends no matter what. Dude, you know too much about me," She let out a little chuckle as she turned to face me more, "what's on your mind, bestie?"
"Well, I think I might like.. This girl."
She calmly set her laptop down, adjusted her glasses on the small glass table, and turned to me.
She looked me right in the eyes and gave me a look I have never ever seen from her.
"What?" Her face was like a piece of paper, totally blank.
