In a remote town, was a forest. It was filled with beautiful giant oaks, but the people in the town hated it. Only one little girl enjoyed it's shade, and the sun rays that penetrated that shade. She would run without shoes, feeling the crunch and snap of leaves and twigs. Once her breath escaped her lungs, and she would start huffing and puffing. Resting her head at the base of the oak. Her tired feet, dirty as they were, would find their way back into the little girl's room.
When she came in to her home one day, her mother was telling her younger sister the town was in need of farmland. Although it was a remote town, there was no room to farm because it was surrounded by forest.
"Now I don't want you or your sister near that forest," her mother warned,"they are going to burn it down, so they can farm."
"Alright Mother, but I don't know if..."
"No! I won't let them burn my trees! I won't, won't, and won't let them." The little girl cried out.
"Well if you are going to be as cooked as are dinner then go out there now," scolded her mother, daring her to push the matter,"they're starting right now."
Terror was within her now, if she didn't reach the forest her tree friends would be gone forever. Her heart racing as fast as her feet, she dashed to the forest. The match only a few feet from the first tree, she stepped in front of it. Flame dancing before her eyes.
"Get out of here girl," the worker ordered,"or you are going to get hurt"
"Just like my trees!" She snapped quickly.
Astonished as he was, he wasn't going to take no for an answer,"or I could burn you right here and now."
She backed up and gave him a look of complete stubbornness. She sat down, while the crinkling of leaves beneath her was the only sound. The man lifted the match and blew it out. She was filled with happiness that made her jump straight up, but it wasn't over. He threw the lighter and the ground immediately lit. Spreading rapidly, she ran into the woods. The rest was fire filled dream, and a forest of dead friends.
Sprinting in the forest, failing to save her trees, she fell. Heat and darkness consumed her.
