This is no ordinary fairytale. If it was the heroine, most likely a princess, would fall for a prince, and he would fall for her, but there would be a slight little problem which would be sorted out in the end, such as the heroine being locked up in a tall tower, wearing clothes (and travelling in a coach) made of magic, being in a deep sleep, or even dead. But the hero would save her, and they would live happily ever after for the rest of their days. The End. Nothing else would happen.
But this story is different. Yes the heroine is a princess, but that is were the similarities stop. Whilst most princesses learnt to sew, paint, and look pretty, this princess learnt how to be a leader, survival skills, and how to use a bow and arrow. She was pretty that much was certain, but from the moment her mother, Queen Fianna of Othrany, felt her kick when she was pregnant, she knew that her daughter would not be a normal princess.
In this she was joined by her husband, King Bomani of Ipance, who had always thought traditional princesses a tad dull. That was why he had selected Princess Fianna of Othrany, a princess very well known for her skills in areas that princesses should not be skilled in, and more over the heir to a very powerful country, to be his wife. He had swept her off her feet, and within six months of them having met, they were married. Over the next couple of years Bomani had fallen in love with Fianna, and five years after their marriage he had finally allowed Fianna into his bedchamber.
She had become pregnant with the daughter she longed for, and she had decided on one name, Rosilda, Rose for short. And so Princess Rosilda had been born, a pretty child, the perfect princess, and she had been taught the skills her mother had been taught, that of how to be a warrior princess. And so the perfect princess that had been born in a palace in Issance, the capital of Ipance, was no more. She was sent away from home to learn these skills, and by the time she was fifteen she was leading the army of Ipance.
Her sister, Princess Clotilde, was born when she was sixteen, but she did not witness the birth. Clotilde was born in the same room Rosilda had been born in, but Rose herself was out in the wildness of Othrany. A messenger had to be sent to her so she could attend her sister's christening.
Tilde was a disappointment to her parents, a girl much more interested in art and music, then in becoming a warrior princess. But at least, as Fianna and Bomani reminded themselves regularly, she wasn't a traditional princess. Rose, on the other hand, adored her sister and that was why, when the incident occurred, she was prepared to do anything to save her sister.
