I awoke in a back seat of a taxi with my mum beside me, the sun piercing through the window and irking my fragile emerald eyes. The taxi was parked in front of a modern house, what I imagined to be the place where I would continue my adolescence.

"Come on, it's time to see our new house!" my mom chirped with excitement.

I rolled my eyes, wondering if this place would give me the same problematic obstacles as the last one. My mom slammed the door, as as she began to walk to new house's door. My legs lazily found their way out of the taxi, and I couldn't deny the area's beauty. I heard the waves crashing and smelt the salt in the air, that was my dream place to live. It was the first time that I didm't mind my brother cluttering my family's lives to the point where to clean them we needed new ones.

"Come on lace!" My mum shouted while opening the trunk. I was still stood at car door, admiring my foreign surroundings.

"Moving to LA is a big step for us, we need to get all the bags out the trunk and start unpacking!" She says while struggling to carry the bags. I rushed over to help her, grimacing as I see her about to collapse onto the concrete ground. We walked over to the house's door, and my mom fumbled with the keys until she finally opened the door with an exasperated sigh. We entered, our mouths went agape and our eyes went wide when we saw our new home. It was built to heaven's standard compared to our last house. It was painted to perfection with white and pale blue, and definitely expressed the fact that we lived near the beach. It was majestic, yet behold a homey vibe. I went into my decent sized room, I got the smallest because I'm the youngest, but I didn't mind. I placed my bags in the corner of my room, and concluded to get the rest of the luggage.

I rambled to the street, it was picture perfect, it had trees decorated by violet flowers and sand lightly layering the road. I sauntered down our house's front steps and down the path towards the cab, but I stopped at a flower bed we had in our front garden, there were unlimited amounts of flowers showering our front lawn and I couldn't help but smile at their compelling bloom. I loved flowers, how they smelt, the way they looked...just so delicate yet bewitching. I always founded a way to incorporate flowers in my outfit, wether it's a floral skirt or simply a little flower in my hair. I stepped out of the gate and stopped at the trunk, deciding which excruciatingly heavy bag I should take next, I looked at mine and it seems to be the lightest so I grabbed it. Unfortunately, my judgement was wrong. It was the heaviest damn thing I'd ever carried.

"Can I help you with that?" I heard a voice say behind me.

I turned around to see a tall guy. He had golden brown hair styled in a quiff, chestnut eyes with black glasses framing them, a gorgeous smile and slightly muscular frame. He was wearing a top saying 'I don't work out, I level up' and some beige shorts, he looked like a geek, but that didn't bother me. He seemed like someone I could really correlate with. I stared at him for an irregular amount of time with words trapped in my throat, he must've thought I was deaf!

"Oh, sorry! My names Cameron. I live next door! I saw you struggling so I thought I'd come help." he said with a smile strapped across his face.

"Hi, I'm Lace." I replied, "Thank you, help would be much appreciated." I laughed as he joined me.

He grabbed my bag from the trunk, but he struggle nearly as much as I did. Thankfully, he got a handle of if. I quickly got my laptop from the back seat and we walked up to the house together.

"So where you from, lace? How come you moved to LA?" he asked with a curious glint in his eyes.

"Well I'm originally from Boston, but we had to move to LA because of my brother." I acknowledge.

"Oh, a Boston girl aye? Who did you move here with?' He asked a lot of questions, but I was open to answering them. How else would I had made friends?

"Boston girl I am!" I chuckled, "I moved here with my mum and older brother Xanda, my dad left us when my brother and I were young but we don't remember him, and to be honest don't really want to."

I started laughing trying to break the tension, I recognised that he was getting nervous with our conversation. He might've seen it as a touchy subject, but it truly wasn't. I had learnt to only face the emotions that benefited me.

"Yeh...so-"he was cut short by my mom.

"Aw, Lace! You already have a friend and we got here five minutes ago!" she smiled, while giving Cameron a hug. I could tell this was unusual for him and that it made him uncomfortable, I couldn't help but laugh at his rancid facial expression. Once he realised I was laughing he began to do so as well. My mom didn't understand the core of our amusement so she gazed at us strangely.

"Alright you too!" she convulsed, shaking her head while walking outside to get another bag.

Cameron and I focused on each other for a few minutes, but it wasn't awkward staring. It somehow felt like I'd known him my entire life even though we just met, But, I stopped myself from labelling us as friends, because for all I knew he could've deeply despised me. Though, it seemed unlikely since we laughed at absolute nothing for two minutes. I silently begged we would be friends in my head, because then I could go to school without the weight of being a complete loner.

"So friend!" he somewhat shouts, and I grin at the word 'friend'. I wanted to pat myself on the back for earning that label. "I gotta go help my mum with chores but I'll see you round, and maybe when school starts we can hang out?" he said, as my face illuminated with happiness.

"Yeah, Definitely! Wanna hang out tomorrow? I'm probably gonna finish unpacking today and shipment doesn't get in till Wednesday!" I said as he wrapped his arms around my figure, stopping the circulation in my lungs.

"I would love that Lace, see ya tomorrow!" he declared, walking towards the door.

"Bye!" I smiled. I began to think that Cameron could become my best friend, and I would have the friendship I dreamt of whenever I moved schools.
