Boys

It was your normal day. Girls buzzing about the latest celebrity break-up, new fashion trends and who they thought would be perfect together. Boys talking about new skateboard tricks or the new hover boards, who was the hottest in the school and which team won the game last night. A typical day in a teens life. But not for Allison Avery. She stood back, not wishing to be in conversations. She spent most of her time in the morning sitting under a tree studying. She noticed someone approaching her, but thought nothing of it. The person took a seat beside her. They slowly leaned in, and in a deep, raspy voice, the person spoke.

"I know your secret."

She instantly recognized the voice. She was sitting next to Harry Johnson, the schools ultimate bad boy.

She was shocked. No one knew her secret. She made sure of that. She took extra pre-caution every day just to make sure that no one found out.

"What do you mean?" She asked cautiously.

"I know that you're a fighter. And, I must say, you are pretty good," Harry said with a smug smile.

"Look, do you know how hard I work everyday to keep this a secret?! You are the only one who knows. You can't tell anyone. This must remain a secret. How did you find out, anyway?" She panicked.

"I fight at the local ring a few times a week to keep my family supported," he said, looking somewhat embarrassed.

"So, let me get this straight. The bad boy is actually a good boy?" She asked, smiling smugly.

"What.....No.. I'm a so called 'bad boy,'" he said, putting air quotes around "bad boy".

"Whatever you say, 'goodie two shoes,'" she said, putting air quotes around goodie two shoes.

"You're one to talk..." He said, scowling at her like she was scum stuck to his shoe.

Allison stood up, gathering her belongings and headed towards the school building, not wanting to be late to class.

"See ya around, Johnson."

Before Harry could say anything, she disappeared into the mass swarm of students lounging around.

The rest of the day, Allison was nervous. It seemed as though Harry was in all her classes, and always watching her. She would feel like somebody was watching her, and sure enough, he was. At lunch, he approached her.

"What do you want?"

"What do you mean 'what do I want'?" Harry asked her, rather rudely.

"You've been watching me, all day, and it's freaking me out!" Allison shrieked.

"I'm just keeping an eye on you," Harry responded, winking at some girls who passed by.

"Yeah, what for?" Allison asked, really getting tired of his vagueness.

"Trying to figure you out," He said. "I don't know why you want that kept a secret, you should be proud,"

"Well it's not a normal thing for girls to do, especially girls like me," Allison said, picking up her things to go over to her normal table, where she sat alone, just how she liked it.

"Who cares?" Harry asked.

"Everybody but you," Allison said, and with that she walked over to her table, opened a fat book, and read in silence of lonlieness.

"Why do you like sitting by yourself?" Harry asked several minutes later, scaring her.

"Will you leave me alone!" She yelled, chucking her daily planner at him.

"Ooh, feisty! A good trait for fighting," Harry said, whispering the last part in her ear. She chucked her book at him. He simply laughed and walked away.

"Boys" Allison said, shooting Harry a glare before opening her book again.
