Chapter 2: I Hate You
Jenny Bleu's POV
I ran. I kept running until I had reached the back doors of the school. I pushed them open, hearing my name come from my best friend's lips. Very loudly, may I add. I didn't stop, though. I just continued running. I could hear Jesse gaining on me. I pushed myself harder, but it was no use. I was already exhausted.
I felt strong arms wrap around my body and I turned, sobbing into Jesse's chest. He rubbed my back, soothing me. He whispered soft condolences into my hair. I calmed down, looking up at Jesse.
"Thank you," I whispered. He smiled lightly.
"No problem, JenBear." I giggled at the childish nickname that he came up for me in kindergarten. I honestly have no idea what I would do without him.
"I love you, you know that?" I asked, smiling.
"How could you not? I mean, I'm Jesse Black." I scoffed. "No but really, I love you too." He smiled at me and I returned the gesture. I pulled away from his warm embrace and grabbed his hand, tangling our fingers together. We walked into the school and I headed towards the bathroom.
"I'll be right out, Jesse," I said, walking in. I set my books on the floor as I examined myself in the mirror. I was a mess. Red, puffy eyes, mascara all down my face, and my eyeliner smudged. I quickly washed my face and grabbed my pencil bag that had all my makeup in it. I fixed my hair and makeup and grabbed my books, walking out to where Jesse was waiting for me. When I walked out, Jesse wasn't there.
"Jesse?" I called. No response.
"Jesse?" Nothing. I sighed. I guess he left. I began walking to my class when someone jumped on my back, knocking me over.
"Got ya!"
I screamed as I fell to the ground. Jesse laid beside me, laughing at me. People gave us weird looks but I didn't care.
"I hate you," I said, smacking his arm.
"You love me." He winked. He stood up, reaching his hand out to help me up. We walked to our first class which we had together. We sat down and suddenly I was being tackled into a hug by two pairs of arms.
"Where were you?! We waited under the tree for ten minutes!" Kelly shouted.
"We had a little run-in with Ryder," I mumbled. Kelly and Emily's eyes went wide. I quickly explained what happened.
"I'm so sorry, Jen! My cousin is such a bastard!" Emily apologized. I shook my head.
"It's okay, Em. It's not your fault. It's not like you tell Ryder to be like that."
"You just can't keep my name out of your mouth, can you?" a voice asked. I could just hear the smirk in his annoying voice. "I knew you loved me, Princess."
"In your dreams, RyRy." I turned to scowl at him.
"More like nightmares." I rolled my eyes.
"You and me both." Class started, and seemed like it couldn't end soon enough. Probably because I sat by Ryder. When class finally ended, I ran out of there like my life depended on it.
"Trying to get away from me, huh?" Ryder asked.
"No, I was just running out of there because I was excited to go to math class," I said, sarcasm dripping in my voice. He chuckled.
"You're scared of me Jenny Bleu, just admit it," he said, smirking.
"Ha! You're funny! Why should I be scared of you? It's not like you're gonna hit me. I know you Ryder. Well, I used to. You've changed so much that I wouldn't be surprised if you did hit girls." You could hear the venom in my words, showing him how much I hated him.
