Lucy's POV
I stepped out of the cab and stared up at 35 Portland Row. It was covered in ice and snow, but still the inside burned with the light from the fire place. It was almost Christmas. I had left the company a year ago. I close my eyes
"Time flies"... I say softly, opening my eyes when I hear a door creak.
"Lucy?" The voice cracks. I look up at the house to see that Holly is staring at me from inside the warm foyer.
"Hi Holly.." I let my voice trail off before I turn on my heel to walk back to my apartment. I didn't take two steps before I felt something warm embrace me from behind. It was Holly trying to drag me back toward the house.
"What are you doing?" I ask softly letting myself be pulled along.
"Your coming in!" She announced yanking me up the steps. I plant my feet.
"No Holly. It would probably be best I don't." I go to pull away, but her grip tightens.
"You have to! Oh Lockwood and George will be so pleased! And you could stay for dinner too! Pretty please? The house doesn't feel right without you in it..." She looks at me with pleading eyes. I sigh and run a hand through my short hair.
"Alright I'll stay but as soon as dinner is over I'm gone. Clear?" Holly nods enthusiastically and we both step through the door. I feel a rush of heat wash over me.
I take off my jacket and boots. Holly hangs my jacket on my old spot next to Lockwood's trench coat.
"LOCKWOOD, GEORGE GUESS WHO I MANAGED TO CONVINCE TO COME TO DINNER?!" Holly yelled down the staircase to the basement.
"Why do I care?" George calls back. My eyes well up. God I missed fighting with him.
"Lucy!" Holly says. The house goes so silent, you could hear a Shade. Then the silence was broken.
"WHAT?!" They both yelled. I heard the pounding of feet. Holly and I were laughing so hard we couldn't breathe. They both emerged at the same time. Both stood still for a brief moment before tackling me in a gigantic hug. George broke off first.
"LUCY! How've ya been?" I smiled.
"Just fine George, thanks for asking. I do miss you guys though.." I trail off looking at the floor.
"Does this mean your coming back?" Lockwood clung me like he was afraid I would disappear if he let go. I smiled softly.
"I'll tell you what, make a good enough argument and I'll re-join the company and move back in, okay?"
"Okay!" They all chime in unison. We sit down to the table and eat.
========Le time skip brought to you by drunk George trying to dance==========
We all sat in the living room after dinner. I settled into my old spot on the couch with a cup of tea. Then George and Holly both began trying to convince me to stay. Lockwood however stayed silent and simply studied me.
Holly was about to make another point, but I held up my hand to stop her.
"lockwood, why o you think I should stay?" I ask him.
"George, Holly could you leave the room for a moment?" Lockwood says quietly. They both look confused, but nevertheless get up and walk out. As soon as their out the door Lockwood stands up and walks over to the couch. He pulls me into his lap.
"Lockwood w-what are you d-doing?" I feel myself starting to get flustered.
"Making my argument, what else?" He grabs my chin and kisses me. i melt into it and hear a camera flash. We both pull away and spin to see George grinning and holding a camera while Holly runs in circles in the kitchen yelling
"OTP OTP OTP OTP OTP OTP OTP OTP!!" I flush and turn back to Lockwood.
"Valid argument" and he kisses me again. Best. Christmas. Ever.
