I was sitting in the underground areas that once belonged to the government. It used to be used for civilians during wars, just in case. But now, it was my so called home. I hated this place. It reeked, like it was part of the sewers of London. But I dealt with it, knowing my parents were just using it to protect us.
My name is Petra. I have brunette hair with brightly colored streaks. I had gotten them done before all of the corruption, so I was happy they hadn't yet faded. I was wearing a pair of my old jeans which I was already almost too big for and an All Time Low t-shirt with my leather jacket overtop. I was the oldest child in my family, followed by my younger brother. My parents were out most of the time looking for ammo for the guns we had. They did the same thing everyday: look for weaponry in case the kids needed it. Ridiculous.

There were some days when my parents would send me out to "train" to fend for myself. They would lock the barracks from me, trapping me outside (ironic huh) with no way in, with some different guns and blades. I don't know how my parents managed to find all of this stuff, they just showed up with it one day. But anyways, I would have to try and look for gear and supplies, sneaking around like a spy. It's not as fun as you think. If you get seen or caught, you are basically dead. It's like Call of Duty, except it's not a game. People will kill each other just for ammo. Well, today was one of those days.

It was currently starting to get dark, meaning it was time for me to head back, so I grabbed a pistol out of my messenger bag in case. After walking a few blocks, the barracks' opening was now visible. By now, my parents would have unlocked it for me to get inside. I was still a bit away, so the walk would take about another five minutes at most. Then I saw something that made my heart stop beating. Seven men. A very specific group of guys that everyone feared: the uprising's leaders.
I jumped behind the closest thing, a van, but kept my eyes on them. My eyes widened with fear and sadness. They were going into the barracks. I wanted to scream at them so badly to distract them, to keep them away from the barracks. I heard one yelling something, but I couldn't tell exactly what he said. I knew exactly what was about to happen. I turned away covering my ears.
An explosion. I turned back to see them all flooding into the barracks where my now dead family's bodies lay, all killed by one thrown grenade. I got up and ran as fast as I could, hoping to get as far away from them as possible. Now I had a reason to overtake the uprising. And I wasn't going to give up, no matter what. Even death couldn't stop me now.
The world was chaos. They took everything I loved, everything I ever cared about. My mother, father, and younger brother. None of use deserved any of this. I was just starting my life, but these guys, who are around the same age as me, had to come in and ruin it. I was going to destroy them, along with everything they had. Everything that they ever cared about in their lives. Their families, friends, everything they love. They need to be killed. Removed from this planet, by me.
