I awoke to the annoying sound of a cellular alarm playing from the nightstand. I struggled to reach my phone, accidently turning it off. I guess no sleeping in today I thought to myself. I glanced at my phone, seeing that it was 5:15. I rolled over and off my bed with a thump. Groaning in pain, I got up and walked out into the hallway. I knocked lazily on Mark's door to wake him, knowing it was a wasted attempt. I shuffled into the kitchen only to be startled by my father making coffee. "Morning Bananas, how'd ya sleep?" my father asked, eating a piece of toast. I sighed sarcastically loud and said, "Fantastic". My dad glared at me and walked out of the kitchen. Turning towards the coffee, I heard Mark stumble out of his room. "There's coffee!" I shouted. I saw Mark rushing toward it and I quickly moved out of the way.

I grabbed my keys as I rushed out the door, shouting at Mark to hurry. While getting in the car, my phone buzzed.
A text from Zera, my best friend and cousin.
*Where are you? I thought you were picking me up.*
I tapped the box to reply back, typing quickly.
*Sorry, Mark is being a royal ass and not hurrying.*
I put my phone down and put the keys in the ignition. Mark started coming out the door, pulling up his pants. I covered my eyes and squealed. I heard the door open and I sighed. "C'mon Mark, really?" I barked at him, starting the truck. "Well if you weren't rushing me then..." He started before I smacked him. We did have enough time to pick up Zera , get to school, and have five minutes to spare. Zera and I walked towards the cafeteria, meeting with our friends Cecilia and Twila. "About time!" they shouted in unison. I laughed, taking a seat. "So, how's Caaaaaleb?" I asked Twila, earning a glare and blushing cheeks from her. "Breeeaaaaa shut up! I don't even like him anymore!" Twila shouted as our whole table erupted into laughter. The first bell interrupted our fun and we all groaned loudly. "I won't be here during lunch," I said to my friends as we walked to our homeroom. They all gave me annoyed glares and I laughed. We reached the classroom and sighed. Oh joy! I thought to myself.

My teacher told me my mother was here, so I gathered my things and excitedly walked to the office. My mom and dad have joint custody so I get to be with them at two weeks at a time. Let's just say, I've missed her. I spotted her down the hall and smiled. Mark was already there talking to her, probably about grades.
I walked up to her and hugged her. I also just remembered that I had driven my truck to school. "Hey, Mom, I'm going to need to stop by the store, so I can just meet up with you home, okay?" I asked my mom, using my puppy dog eyes. "Okay, Hun, just get home by 5, safely." My mom said, kissing me on the cheek. I returned the kiss and punched my brother in the arm. I walk out of the school and towards my car, checking my wallet to see how much money I had. I discovered I had 17 dollars left from my paycheck, so I was definitely stopping by the store to get some cheesy puffs. I got in my truck and drove out of the school parking lot.

I decided to go ahead and skip traffic by taking a couple of back roads. I was going down one that seemed to be quiet when my phone rang. Zera. I answered the phone.
"Hey what's up?" I asked.
"Cecilia and I thought you were giving us a ride?" she asked, seemingly annoyed. I mentally cursed. " Well I- SHIT--" I just noticed a man and swerved out of the way only to collide with a tree. I lifted my head to see the man coming towards me. I struggled to ask for help but the words never left my mouth. I was shocked when the man ripped my door off. The last thing I remembered was the man's face burrowing into my neck, and everything went dark.
