{ Abby's pov: }
"Hurry up or we'll be late!!" My mom's screaming pierces through my ears as I pull on my boot and quickly zip it up.
"Comimg!" I shout back to her.
I grab my phone and jacket and sprint down the stairs, causing me to trip over the last step and land flat on my face.
"Ow." I whisper to myself as I slowly get up.
"You all right?" Caleb asks me, sounding seriously concerned.
I smile at my little 6 year old brother and ruffle up his hair. "Yeah buddy, don't worry about me." I kiss him goodbye and grab my backpack off of the kitchen counter. Then I bolt outside to where my mom is already waiting in the car.
I yank open the passenger side door and hop in.
"Took ya long enough." My mom sighs as she pulls out of the driveway.
"Sorry, I overslept a little bit." I admit and she just rolls her eyes at me.
We're driving to school, where I'm currently a senior. I would've driven myself today but my best friend, Hannah, is borrowing my car all week.
I take out my phone and plug in my headphones.
"Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons comes on and I start lip-syncing the lyrics along with them.
The ride to school only lasts about 10 minutes and soon enough, we arrive at my least favorite place in this world.
"Bye mom, thanks, love you." I kiss her cheek and clamber out of the car with my backpack in hand, slamming the door shut behind me.
I walk up the steps to the big double doors waiting to be pulled open. I slowly enter the hallways and take my headphones out of my ears as I approach my locker.
Just then a pair of arms wrap around my waist.
"Hey bestie!" Hannah shouts as I turn to face her.
"Hey Han, how was getting to school this morning?" I ask, raising my eyebrows for emphasis because of the fact that she drove my car.
"Absolutely blissful. Thanks for bailing me out of riding with my mom for a week. I really need to get my own automobile."
I chuckle at that last word. "Automobile?"
"Yeah, what's wrong with that?" She asks, a smirk forming at the corner of her lips.
"Oh nothing Han, It's just that normal people would use the word 'car' to describe the mode of transportation." I laugh again.
"Hush up. The word slipped out okay?" She playfully punches my shoulder and fake pouts.
"C'mon let's just get to class." I grab my chemistry book and slam my locker door shut.
"So anyway, did you hear about Evan and Rachel?" Hannah whispers to me to make sure that any passing by students don't hear our gossip.
"No, what about them?" Evan is the most popular kid in the whole school. Typical "bad boy" who breaks every single rule that there is. He dates pretty much every girl and then once he gets what he wants, he throws them away and leaves the girl behind while her heart is shattered into a million pieces. He hurts them, and he doesn't even care. He's definitely not the kind of guy that I'd ever date, I utterly despise him. The way he thinks he's better than everyone else, it's repulsive and a total turn off for me. Rachel on the other hand is "queen bee" of the slut squad. She's slept with pretty much every guy in the school and I wouldn't be surprised if she had an STD or two. She's snobby and rude, always picking on everyone else who isn't in her group. She's the evil girl in every teenage drama movie. I hate her too, and by what she calls me, I'm positive that she hates me just as much. For what reason? I really don't know. She just hates everyone who isn't popular, I guess. Evan and Rachel have been "dating" for 3 months. And by "dating," I mean screwing every night.
