Marissa's POV:
My name is Marissa Grimes.
Terrifying. That's what the world is, terrifying. I had only ever seen zombies in movies, but the movies became reality.I am lucky to have my father, Rick, my mother, Lori, and my two brothers Shawn and Carl. Carl is 16. Shawn is 17. I am 15.
My mother is pregnant. That's a scary thing in a world like this. I've been inside a prison forever.
I got up, grabbing my gun and walked out the doors of the prison. My father was farming out there with Carl and Hershel. I smiled looking at the peace we have. But at the same time we don't have peace. We are all hungry and we are running low on food.
I walked up to my father and said, "we need to go on a run for supplies."
"We do." He confirmed.
"What are we waiting for?" I asked.
Hershel and Dad looked at each other.
"Okay what's going on?" Carl asked.
"The governor wants the prison, we can't just leave you guys here." He said.
"Then I'll go." I said. I grabbed my gun and checked how much ammo I have left. I have enough.
"You're not going." Dad said.
"I'll go with her." Carl said.
Dad sighed. "You two stay together, never let your guard down. Come right back if you see a herd coming your way. Protect your sister, Carl." He demanded.
"Alright." We said.
We grabbed a bag with some water and a little food to keep us going.
I took a couple deep breathes in preparing myself for what was to come.
"You okay?" Carl asked.
"Yeah, I just feel like I don't contribute to the group enough." I sighed.
"You do, you are now." He said and I smiled.
"I'm ready." I sighed.
My father opened the gates for us and we walked out.
"Where do you wanna head?" I asked.
"A few miles to the west, there should be a plaza there with some supplies and food." He replied.
I stayed silent and we kept on walking.
We heard a crunch and both quickly pulled out our knives.
A walker came speeding towards us. I walked up to the nasty beast and kicked it over, jumping on top of it to stab it in the head.
"You've gotten better Mari." Carl said smiling.
"I have no choice." I mumbled.
"You're right." He said.
We only got interrupted a few more times before we made it to the plaza. There was a small grocery store located there.
We walked up to the door and pounded on it. No walkers came out.
We quietly walked in. There were some canned food and a little water. Enough to supply the group. We grabbed what we could and walked out.
Boom
"Did you hear that?" Carl asked.
"Gunshots. They sound like they came from the prison." I gasped.
Moans could be heard behind us. I turned around and a whole herd of walkers were walking towards us.
Carl grabbed my hand and we ran. Gunshots could still be heard in the distance.
