Through Eternity

A baby cries, a newborn girl

A fragile sound that echoes through eternity

Deserving of life and loving care

Her laughter like music chimes

A melody that echoes through eternity

Then her life changes, confusion and sorrow

Where has daddy gone, will he be back tomorrow?

But life goes on, she laughs again

Then more life changes, unexpected occurrence

She needs someone to hold her in arms of loving assurance

Who is this woman in whose care she's been placed?

Why is there cruelty written on her face?

Why does she hate her, beat and abuse? 

Bruises on her face, her little mouth lacerated.

But eventually, very soon now her suffering is abated.

A sweet baby girl in excruciating pain

Hair pulled out by the roots, what was the woman's gain?

Her little arm broken, never a chance to heal,

Crying agonizing sobs no one cares to hear 

Affliction the small broken body can no longer bear 

Her eyes close forever, she is set free

Of a world that proved loveless—it seemed to be

But love sprang forth, watered by tears it thrived

An amazing abundance of love we decree

A love that will echo through eternity

Some of you may know her story, some of you may have already signed the petition. For those who don't know. Sixteen month old Allisa Guernsey suffered at the hands of her caregiver for three months until her little body could take no more. The woman served 77 days for child neglect. Alissa had no one to stand up for her. Let's stand up for her now. Please, 'like' her page, sign the petition to bring this abusive woman to justice. You almost need to see to believe. The evidence is there of the torture she experienced.

I am happy to announce that Christy Shaffer has been incarcerated for another crime and hopefully will have to serve out the original ten year sentence. Seriously, she deserves twenty-five to life. But it's still a victory just knowing she's paying for a crime, any crime; we'll still consider it justice.
