Relief filled me. He was ok, they were all safe. But when I meet him, I couldn't bring him here. None of them, they could put this town in jeopardy. I had to leave tomorrow morning and somehow safely sneak Archer out of this town. He would have to leave because then his cover would be blown without me. I almost felt guilty, but he would be fine, I was sure of it.

I turned around and walked back to Archer, who had already shifted.

"What's the matter?" He asked.

"Look, you gotta go." I walked past him, and headed for the village.

"Whoa, why? What's the problem?"

"I don't need to explain myself to you, you just need to leave." Why was the town so far away?

"I'm not leaving without an explanation Lana." He yelled.

I spun on him and growled. "You're lucky I saved you in the first place. You don't need to know, nor have the right to ask."

"Why not?" He frowned.

"Because I need to leave, which means you need to leave."

"I have nowhere to go." He stated.

I turned around. "Then find somewhere."

He trotted alongside me. "I'll go with you."

"No you won't." I sighed.

"Yes. I will. I don't even need to know where were going, but I'm coming."

I turned around again and growled. "Don't follow me Archer." With that, I sprinted to our house and shifted quickly, then opened the door and slammed it, hoping no one saw me naked.

"Lana?" Erick walked into the room.

I screamed and shifted, then ran into my room. I shifted again and slipped on a white summer dress then collapsed on my bed.

"Lana? Are you ok?" Erick knocked on the door.

"I'm fine!" I yelled through sobs. I was crying. Why was I crying? I wasn't sad, I was just... crying.

"No you're not." Erick walked in and sat next to me, then wrapped me in his arms. "Lana, what's wrong?"

"Everything." The words just flew out of my mouth. It was all true though. My life was so screwed up, my family was gone, many people were out to kill me, and I had a dangerous power.

"Hey. Hey, look at me." He tipped my chin up with his hand and smiled. "Nothing is wrong, this will all be figured out soon."

I shook my head. "No, no it won't. It never will. Don't you see? People will always be trying to hurt me, or you or anyone else who has a power."

"No, everything will be fine. We will defeat Quinn and everything will go back to normal."

I sat up. "Except my family. Except for the fate of our world."

"Well, we can figure it out together."

"No. This is all my fault. I need to figure this out."

"Hey," He gave me a hard stare, "You need to stop thinking that everything is all your fault, when none of it is. There just unfortunate coincidences."

I nodded my head in attempt to fool him into thinking that I was ok. "Your right. I just need to calm down. We can talk about this tomorrow."

He nodded. "Alright, get some rest, I'll see you tomorrow."

I nodded and closed my eyes as he left and shut the door behind him. Then I stood up and grabbed a duffel bag that I had found the first day I was here. Yes, this place was stocked with every need. I shoved clothes and shoes and definitely hair ties into the bag then slipped into the bathroom, and proceeded to grab my unmentionables, toothbrush, and toothpaste.

I was leaving. Tonight.

I went back to my room and shoved the duffel bag under my bed, then decided to get some sleep before leaving. I set my alarm to two o'clock and turned down the volume and slipped under my covers.

The buzzing of my alarm woke me and I sat up in my bed, rubbing my eyes. I turned off the loud alarm and yawned, then got up and took out my duffel bag.

I opened the door and snuck out, tiptoeing across the living room, and to the kitchen where I took a pad of paper and wrote a note:

Dear Erick,

I know that this is sudden but this is my job to protect this town. I'm not going to give away where I'm going, but don't look for me because I promise I will be very safe. Thank you for everything you've done for me, and I promise I will be back and see you again. I'll miss you. See you soon.

-Lana

I put the note on the counter and slipped out the front door, where lo and behold, stood Archer...holding a duffel bag. Just great.

"Hey, ready to go?" He smirked.

"Not with you." I walked past him and headed down the road. "How did you know I was leaving anyways?"

"I kinda guessed you would leave tonight, so I just sat on your porch until I heard your footsteps."

I choked out a laugh. "Wow, creepy much?"

He sighed. "You know I'm coming with you."

"Why?" I asked annoyed.

"Because I have nowhere else to go." He seemed a bit annoyed also.

I spun on him and pushed him on the chest, causing him to stumble back. "Stay out of my way. Besides you have your brother to take care of."

He shook his head. "He'll be fine. You know it too."

All of a sudden, and overwhelming sense came over me. It made me want...him to come with me. Like her could... somehow...protect me.

"Alright. You can come." The words flew out without my permission. It was strange. Why was I letting him come with me when I was so against it less than thirty seconds ago?

"Ok then! Let's go! By the way, where are we going?" He asked.

"I'm letting you come, so you don't get to ask that." I said and walked ahead of him.

He rose his hands in surrender. "Okay, fine."

We walked side by side, through the middle of the town. "So why did you want to come?" I asked, avoiding the question of 'where are we going?'.

"Because I have nowhere else to go, and I like you."

I felt myself blush. "Oh."

"Yeah, well, I figured your pack would figure me out sooner or later anyways, so why not just leave? It's a perfect opportunity." He smirked.

I sighed. "I guess."

After that we didn't really talk, just walked in silence. I imagined the spot where I would be meeting Nate.

The memory was so clear in my mind, it was crazy that I remembered. I was only five, after all, and most five year olds didn't have a memory like that. But it was the only memory I had of my parents, so I guess that's why.

I envisioned the gas station, and began in that direction, with Archer at my side.
