"Kris, we have to leave soon. Is everything packed?" Your brothers tired voice rouses you from your deep sleep.
"Yeah, I'll meet you down stairs in five." You mutter not bothering to open my eyes.
"Okay, but hurry!" Adam whispered back.
You don't make an effort to open your eyes until you can no longer hear his soft foot steps. It is dim in the room, the only light coming from your alarm clock on a small nightstand. 2:15 glows in bright red numbers. Silently you get out of bed careful not to disturb the little girl sound asleep across the room.
You start getting ready as quickly as possible pulling on jeans and a long black shirt to keep you warm in the early April morning. After buttoning up your old army jacket, you sling your lucky backpack over your shoulders and walk into the dark hallway.
Down stairs in the kitchen, Adam shifts from foot to foot readjusting his backpack straps.
"Ready?" He asks. Nodding in response you follow him out the door into the misty morning air. Even with your multiple layers on you shiver and pull the hacker closer to your body in attempts to block out the frigid air.
Adam nods his head slightly and together you take off into the cold early morning. Not even bothering to look back.
