Don't Look

You have never shaken this bad in your entire life. You were just so scared. The only comfort you were receiving came from the gentle, soft touch of your boyfriend, Namjoon's, hand. You wanted to stay in his arms forever but you knew that if you didn't move now, you would both be dead. The moans and shuffles from outside the room grew louder and louder with each waking moment. "We have to get up, Namjoon," you said, sighing hard. "And just where are we going to go? We're locked in  bedroom. There is infected right outside the door. We have  nowhere to go. I think this is it," he had nothing but remorse in his eyes. "Namjoon, we don't have time for this. I get it. You don't think there is a point in living anymore ever since Yoongi, Tae, Jimin, and Hoseok died, but what about me? What about us? We need to live because you know damn well that Jungkook and Jin are still out there somewhere, waiting for us to find them," you said in a hushed whisper, praying to God that the infected didn't hear you. However, you weren't sure if there even was a God anymore. No God could do this.

You paced over to the window and peered outside. There seemed to be no infected that you could see outside but your only problem was how you were going to get down there in the first place. You guys were on the second floor and it was too high to drop down and risk breaking a leg. But it was your only chance. You began to search the room, trying to find anything that could help you. After a couple minutes of rummaging through dresser drawers, you get an idea. "Namjoon, come over here and help me." He pushed himself off the floor with a sigh. You began handing him multiple long sleeve shirts. "Tie the sleeves together," you instructed him. "Why?" He asked, yet he still did what he was told. "We're going to make a rope and c!imb out the window," you answered, also tying the sleeves together, but struggling because your hands were still shaking. You needed to hurry. The moans from the hallway were increasing. You had no idea how many were out there and you really didn't want to find out.

Once you had tied about seven or so shirts together, you tied the last shirt around the leg of the bed and threw the rest out of the window. You didn't know how well it would hold but you hoped for the best. "You go first," you told Namjoon. He just crossed his arms and shook his head. You rolled your eyes at him because you knew he wouldn't budge. You hoisted your legs over the windowsill and began your descent down.  This reminded you of the time he took you rock climbing. He helped you put on your harness and you still remember the feeling on his callused hands on yours as he helped you find the holds for each rock. The only difference now was that you were climbing for your life. One you had your feet planted on the ground, you gave Namjoon a small smile and a thumbs up. Namjoon started making his way down. You watched him carefully. You could see his long legs strain under his pants as he kept his feet firmly on the side of the house. Suddenly, there was a loud ripping sound. The one thing that could go wrong and it does. Namjoon landed on the ground with a thud. You trotted over and helped him up. He was winded but you guys had to get a move on. He put his arm around your shoulder and you wrapped your arm around his waist and you guys moved as fast as you could.

The two of you had to get to the convenience store before night fall. That was where the last radio message that Jin and Jungkook sent out came from. You hoped they were still there. And if they were still there, you hoped they were still alive. Once Namjoon was able to stand by himself, you both started running. You pumped your legs as fast as you could. You just had a few blocks to go. You were going to make it. You rounded the last corner and the store came into sight. You saw Jin  and Jungkook standing in the window, egging you on. You were smiling so wide. It was the first time you had seen them in weeks. Suddenly, their expressions changed. Jungkook started crying and he banged on the window of the store, slowly falling to his knees. Jin just stared, standing there, expressionless. You noticed Namjoon was no longer beside you. You turned around just in time to see an infected take a bite out of Namjoon's shoulder. He was trying with all his strength to push the monster away. You slid your knife out of its holster and sprinted toward Namjoon. With one quick motion, you shoved the knife into the infected's temple. It fell to the ground with a thud. You took off your jacket and pressed it to Namjoon's shoulder to stop the bleeding. God, there was so much blood.

Walking as fast as possible, you helped Namjoon to the entrance of the store. Jungkook ushered you in. Namjoon immediately collapsed onto the floor. He was sweating profusely and he was sickly pale. "There has to be something we can do," you said, looking back and forth between Jungkook and Jin. Jungkook just sniffled and wiped his eyes. Namjoon slowly raised his arm to your jacket and takes it off himself. His flesh was torn so badly and in a spot impossible to amputate. There was no hope for him. You wanted to scream. You wanted to tear your hair out. This can't be happening to him. He was always the strong one. The one you could rely on. He was too valuable to lose, especially like this. It should have been you, not him. Maybe if you didn't get so ahead of yourself and actually kept pace with him, it could have been different. It could have been you. It should have been you.

"Hey, look at me," Namjoon said, lifting  your head with his hand. His eyes were glistening. Even with his white skin and dark under eye bags, he was still the most beautiful person you had ever laid your eyes on. "You need to be strong for me. There is nothing we can do. I knew this would happen at some point. I just hoped it would have been later. I want you to know that I love you. I love you so much that it hurts," he pulled you closer to him. He locked his plump lips with yours. You could feel his tears on your face. You felt him grimace in pain and he broke the kiss. "Jungkook, give me your gun," Namjoon said, motioning to Jungkook's holster. Jungkook sniffled once more, unhooking the gun from his belt. Namjoon grabbed it and slowly raised it to his head. "Don't look, okay?"
