Chapter 6
When we got to the change room all eyes were on me except Chris's he just walked to his spot and sat down. I took the spot across the room from him. The room was silent as we got dressed for the game.
Most of us were ready and it was ten minutes to game time when the coach walked in.
"Alright boys... And girls." the coach smiled at me. he had been my coach when I was quite a bit younger. He must have remembered that I used to make the coaches point out the fact that I was a girl. How nice? "It' our first game of the season and I want you to work as hard as you would if it was the championships! Give it your all like you should for every game!" I believe this will be our greatest season yet." I agree with coach Tony entirely this season will be my time to shine I will play my heart out every game and show every one that I belong with the boys. "The first line will be Kaylee on center, Carl on left wing, Anthony on right, Chris and Ian on dee." Yes this line is perfect! Sometimes on the ice I get a little... Lost you could say and Chris is always there to help me out. "Now get out there and win this thing!" coach yelled
"Yeah!" We screamed in return.
It was a home crowd so as we got on the ice the crowd began to scream I could hear people calling my name and all the girls calling for Chris and a few of the other boys. I've heard the boys talk about how annoying those girls are and how they throw them off their game and distract them, Anthony and Ian told Kristy and Jamie not to cheer like that thank god they listen!
"Alright let's do this." Chris said into our team huddle.
"1,2,3 go wolves!" we cheered and the crowd joined again.
After the end of the second period the score was 1-1 we were evenly matched. Our shift got on the ice and I lost the face off. The other team brought the puck into our end took a shot on our net but Andrew our goalie deflected it. Ian shot it into the corner where Chris was but he missed the pass and it went up the boards straight onto my stick. I had one of those moments where I was lost Chris knew it and shouted to me, "Go for a skate!" I nodded and off I went full speed toward the other end, the crowd roared as I passed the other team that was flabbergasted by my speed. Chris soon caught up to me I passed the puck to him and he took the shot! Sadly the goalie shot his catcher out and caught the puck.
The face off was in their end now and I was sure I was going to win it. "Back to me." Chris said as he skated past me to his position in the face off.
"Sure thing!" I replied. And I did, I did every thing I could to get it to him but when he took his shot the goalie stopped it again. This time I lost the face off but was fast enough to get to the puck but I tripped and as I fell somehow managed to get him the puck he shot it at the net and finally, GOAL! We did it with two minutes left we were sure we had won the game. My next shift I was skating down the ice with the puck when the biggest kid came out of no where and hit me I went flying into the boards. I collapsed into a heap on the ice and the world began to spin. "KAYLEE!" A familiar voice yelled and my vision started to get better I clearly saw Chris throw a punch at the guy who had hit me but he dodged it and threw one right back and Chris dropped to the ice as the boys fist connected with his head.
