A/N: An update is finally here. :'(

REGAN'S POV

Lethargy was seeping into my bones, my muscles felt like they were on fire. Taking up 6 men in a day, solo on top of that, will do that to a wolf. I am tired. I am sick of running and hiding, avoiding my death was becoming a chore. Right now, I would do anything to have a safe place to fall back to.

What felt like a permanent sense of fatigue was starting to take its toll on me. All I craved for right now was a somewhat peaceful life. Joanne was lucky for being human, no complications. No constant fear of death.

Joanne was also standing abreast the stove, stirring something in a pot, clad in nothing but a loose t-shirt and knickers. Damn, she looked good doing that.

"Babe, you look like you came back from war." She stated the moment she saw me. The least I needed right now was her painful nagging.

"And you look like you will look good under me. Wear shit like that more often, and you won't go long without me dragging you to bed." I retorted.

"Maybe I want to." She implied, playing with the hem of her shirt whilst carefully lifting it.

"You're getting it. Let me just clean all this war dirt off me first." Nothing like good sex after a long day.

CASPIAN'S POV

I abandoned him lying on the floor of my office. Hopefully, realization will hit him the same way his consciousness does. He should not doubt my authority. Anybody should know that.

At this moment, my mind was still fixated on that rogue. Those eyes, that scent, ever so familiar. However I could not seem to put my finger on it because he was covered in mud and other wolves' blood. All I knew was that I needed to find him, I needed to find out more. There was no lead, no clue, a vague scent was all I had. This is going to be an issue, isn't it?

However, there were pending problems that were awaiting my acknowledgement. I found my legs moving itself toward the direction of where Sam was at. Elfian was out, so third in command it was. My mind had a tendency to do that, my body allows my thoughts take control. That was my one flaw.

"Sam, that problem you were talking about." I interrupted his coffee-making session. He put the mug down and bore his eyes into mine with a look that said 'took you long enough'. I dare him to say it.

"We found dead bodies in our territory. Just random bodies placed everywhere. Wait, they're not even random, I think. They're all little girls, and I didn't want to do any further investigation without you. So you should take a look for yourself." This did not seem like that much of our problem. It could easily pass off as the work of a serial killer pedophile.

When we reached the woods, the stench of dead bodies filled my lungs. I wonder how I hadn't take note of the scent earlier, maybe I was too focused on the overpowering smell of the rogue that had challenged me. This was the work of a wolf, no doubt, if not a werewolf like us. There was no way a killer could replicate the claw marks of an animal. They bodies were placed at the border of our central housing area, like they were dolls.

Strange was something the situation was not. Homocide had never struck me as uncommon amongst werewolves. It would be an endless list of werewolves that find enjoyment in torturing and killing. However, taking the placement of these dead female bodies into consideration, it seemed as if this taunting us. It might just be the work of a rebel group. They were trying to find trouble with our pack and I was not going to let that slide.

"You didn't start probing?" I questioned Sam. He might know more if he did. Alas, there was no point keeping hands off of the bodies. They needed to be burnt regardless.

"No, Alpha, I was waiting for you."

I bent down to take a closer look. Sniff a little, touch a little. "It hasn't been long, two days at max. These scra-" "Do you think it was just a wolf or a werewolf?" You do not interrupt me. I looked at him dead in the eye and stared at his face for a solid 10 seconds. He averted his gaze and lowered his head down, good.

"No, it's not a wolf. If you can see," I pried away the shirt covering her wound. "the gashes are deliberate an precise. An animal does not have this kind of control. On top of it," I sniffed the body to identify any saliva or blood. What was crystal was that this had not been someone from our pack, or the neighboring pack - Midnight Sun. "it seems that they are taunting us."

"What do you mean?"

"Look at them. What would be the logical reason behind placing then dead bodies just at the border of housing estate? It's as if the killer wanted them to be found. They're all little girls too." I stared at the body intently whilst running a hand over my face.

"Must be some kind of a message."

"Do you want to keep them?" I honestly could not make a decision. We needed the bodies for investigation, but it would start to go bad in a couple of days if we leave them be.

"It would be too disrespectful, we don't know whose families they belong to. I am going to consult in Midnight Sun. We go as soon as possible."

"What about Elfian?"

"He will be noted." Yeah, he will, with a slight reminder about my authority.
