I walked in behind Nick, hoping not to cause a commotion. I felt a little bad for Nick. I had an excuse for being late- I’m on crutches but he didn’t have one. That it until I heard what he told the teacher.

“I walked Ella to class,” he explained. I wish he would be quieter because the minute he told the teacher that, the whole class went silent. I wished it would end- I hate being the center of attention. I went over to my seat knowing the silence wouldn’t last too long. I was right and was granted with talking. Sadly, it was about me.

I watched Hayley give me a disgusted look as she turned to her friends and said, “Omg. I bet she’s like totally trying to steal Tiana’s boyfriend.”

Her friends turned to each other and started nodding, obviously believing her. Well at least they  didn’t mention the clothes, I thought to myself.

“And I bet the costume change was for him too. Even though she looks more like a freak than usual.” She continued, now glaring at me. Okay, so maybe looks were only half of popularity, which made me think of a new step in my plan.

I smirked and said, “You should really learn to whisper, Hayley someone might hear your conversation.”

“And you should really learn to not steal boyfriends,” She countered.

“Who, Nick? He was just being a good friend after someone tripped me yesterday in math.” One of her two best friends turned to Hayley then to me, whispered something then came to sit by me. Her friends aren’t loyal at all, they really just go where the popularity is. Good news, one was on my side. Bad news, Hayley was pissed.

Good she deserves it,  a part of me thought.

“- I can’t believe you would do that to Ella!” Wait, what? I must’ve zoned out. One of Hayley’s old friends, Mia, I think her name is said. Which is weird because we both knew Hayley would so do that, in the blink of an eye too.

“What are you talking about Mia? I would never trip my own sister,” She gave a sympathetic look that I knew was fake. Apparently so did Mia.

“Don’t even try that ‘innocent look’. You were totes, like bragging about it yesterday but I didn’t know you did it to Ella,” She looked towards me. Liar, I instantly thought, you’re in my Math class and you literally laughed at me while she did it. I kept my mouth shut, knowing Mia was popular. She would be very useful.

“Omg you were bragging about hurting me? I thought we were sisters?” I tried to go for innocence and everyone seemed to buy it. Suddenly, Mia was hugging me and Kate, Hayley’s other best friend was patting my back. I literally just noticed, everyone was listening to our conversation. The teacher left the room, to go get something and this was how they spent it? No chaos or anything? Wow, this must be really interesting.

I saw Snow and she gave me a confused look and I gave her one back saying, ‘I’ll explain everything later.”

The teacher returned from, who knows where and we went on with our science lesson. Exploring outer space, how exciting. He went into a little more detail on our projects but I was barely listening.

That was how it was for the rest of the lesson as well as the next one. Though I was a little nervous to be in the nurses office, it turned out to be kind of fun. I don’t hate nurses anymore, well at least school ones.

The real fun didn’t begin until lunch.

We had macaroni and cheese for lunch and jello. How that went together, I have no idea but they thought it was a good idea. The students either didn’t care or were too lazy to pack a lunch themselves. I don’t get lunch sometimes, and somehow managed not to get it on the days we have this so I have absolutely no clue. Snow, however eats it and hasn’t died yet so I give it an A+ for being edible.
